Poo Everywhere

Recommended Posts

I've just built a 10ft run for my ferrets however then don't seem to go in a certain area they seem to just go where they stand in the run, being a pain to clean out!

How can you train them to go in a litter tray ?

Regards

Tom

A new cage can throw them off... especially something big. Can improve once their navigation is second nature. A lot of the time they will bolt out of bed bursting, If they don't know their way around yet they will go wherever... then that can lead to a bigger problem...

Try scrubbing the places you don't want them to go, making sure to remove all smell and moving some of it to the correct place. Can also help to place food/water bowls or used bedding in the areas you want them to stop using as they won't want to pee the bed etc. Keeping in mind scent is one of their primary senses - once a corner/area smells of ferret crap, more will join in, the scent just triggers it in them. So keep the unwanted toilets smelling clean and allow the areas you want them to go to smell like it.

You may have to give them two corners in the end, depends on how big their space is, as said before - they won't run far when bursting.

Good luck
