Why would Bob the pigeon shooter be carrying his 12 in the streets of Paris? LOL

The right to carry comes with the responsibility to be tactically/situationaly aware.

You're right, a lot of people aren't fit to own a dog. How many kids get killed by dogs a year? 20? Let's ban all private ownership of dogs. I guarantee that'll end that problem and save all the kids.

Well I dont think I'm either, but if you care to expand then you may make me think again   My logic would be, the Yorkshire ripper killed 13 or so women with a hammer and a screwdriver but that's no

I suppose it's easy to mock but I will ask you an honest question, if someone started shooting at you in a place without too many exits and you had a handgun.....would you lay there and wait to be killed or would you do your best to get a few pot shots off and try and put down your attacker?

No Dirty Harry, no Sly Stallone....just have a go at saving your own life?

You may drive a two ton bit of metal that will travel at 130mph.......who looked hard at you other than some speccy driving instructor ?.........no one is stopping you causing carnage on the motorway if you want to......or for that matter even if you don't want to.

Aiming a gun is a deliberate act......you dont just do it cause you didn't like the beans in the cafe or because ash from your fag blew in your eye.

So let's just get a grip here, if you have something serious to say then say it, just don't make up nonsense about Dirty Harry blah blah......it makes you sound like a middle age house wife ;)

A gun is just a tool, same as a car, hammer, screwdriver etc etc. All can be lethal in the wrong hands. You will never be able to legislate against any tool that can be used as a weapon. It's the same as the stupid knife laws they have brought out in this country, a total waste of money and time and has not decreased knife crime one iota.

The draconian gun laws we live with does not stop gun crime, yet the morons who make these laws as vote winning "ideals" actually do not give a toss, but it looks good on their CV that they voted against guns. Though the media gun ownership has made a normal person who enjoys shooting into a gun toting maniac in the sheep who read the papers eyes. Gun owners are becoming the pariah of society, simply because of the actions of others.

Just a little rant.

As a foot note I gave up my guns a couple of years ago and handed in one of my guns at the police station as it was not really worth selling. The civilian woman who was behind the desk would not take the gun off me as she did not like them as they killed people. That really wound me up, where are these people getting their education from?

Rant over.

I don't think I said anything like "road rage" !'.......I said no one is stopping you causing carnage on the motorway be it by choice or indeed not by choice.

There's plenty of folk I consider should not be driving......should we severely restrict car ownership ?

Do you always do the speed limit on all roads?......never ever edge over?.........half you speed when it starts raining ?

If your reply is no to any of the above then you are probably more of a danger, statistically speaking, then any gun owner.

I don't get your point at all, do you in fact have a point or are you just dragging out media bullshit you have read somewhere ?

I was going along with your scenario of Bob the pigeon shooter preventing the Paris attack. So let's ban pigeon shooting, Bob aint safe to have guns!

If you can agree that as a society we can hunt with firearms to an acceptably safe level then why not defend ourselves? I've not yet managed to kill anybody I shoot with so why would I be any more likely to cause a greater risk when defending myself or others from a threat? I managed to train myself well enough to be safe in one situation, why would I be incapable to train myself in the other?

You are aware that there are a multitude of tactical training schools in the US for exactly that. Much the same as there are shooting schools in the UK. Hell, if you know where to look there are even combat training schools in the UK now for the private security sector.

My point, was simply if youve a lot of guns ,expect people to be shot, dont be shocked ,ooh poor news reader shot .you live in a country with a relaxed attituded to guns, chances are it will be the first thing that a nutter in a rage will grab on their way to vent their rage /anger ,because its an easy choice.

i get your point BH ,but you come across as intelligent,im trying to factor in the less intelligent,im not from the USA so have no interest in their gunlaws ,just what the media have lead me to believe ,and that is it fairly easy for anyone to legally own a gun?

Yes very easy over there. Certain types of firearms though requite ATF registration and other types can't be bought new, only grandfathered. It also differs state to state.

I fully accept that by increasing the number of legally held firearms will lead to an increase in legally held firearm crime. Obviously illegally held firearm crime is a problem irrespective of gun law, as proven by the UKs history! Just the same as I accept a higher degree of risk with any freedom we are allowed.

Most people don't want the right to carry for defense, they are happy to give that responsibility to the authorities and be taken care of by their local police force. I'm not, I don't like this society of dependency that is being created. For me, the right to bear arms is hugely representative of that.

Now I get your point, but I have to ask, in the absence of a gun what else are they likely to grab ?......
