tripe is water based , your better off with raw mince chicken ,and if you give rabbits make sure there been frozen for 3 weeks to kill tape worm

or worm your dog regular with proper wormer not the old pound a tab shite ??? just a question not having a digg

i think it lies heavy on a running dog so stopped feeding but cracking stuff for terriers 2 quid for ten lamb bellys my way

I use dontral mate , and never get worms , any rabbits I get frozen for 3 weeks then fed, never had a prob as said any thing that a grass eater will have more chance of picking worms up ,(cattle,horses,sheep,rabbits) etc , not saying you will , but feeding raw mince chicken you don't get it , as chickens are seed feeders , that's why . years ago I had bull breeds and fed tripe regular , and dogs were wormed so kept it a bay, but feeding chicken you deff lessening the chance , as you can it with tripe , and that's what ive found over the years .

Bought mine fresh straight from the abattoir's backgate, took me fecking ages to hack up into edible pieces for the dogs, stunk to the high heavens, but man the dogs nearly took me hand off at feeding time, had to count my fingers make sure I hadn't lost any. Now I buy it in kilo bags, minced and in medallion's, a lot easy to handle, easy to defrost the night before and probably easier for the dogs to digest.

All my dogs and ferrets did well on it, but I also buy decent dry food to supplement the tripe, the best thing about tripe is the small black dog shits on the lawn, less waste, so the dogs must utilise more. Top stuff if you can get a decent, regular supply.

One other thing, chicken frames are fecking cheap and heaps of meat on them, dogs love em and I've never had a problem with bones.

Managed to get 15 sheep's stomachs for £3 last week from the abattoir. I also bought some Ox tongue, 40 lambs kidneys and some liver. I separated it into 40 containers with the addition of brown rice, sweetcorn, peas, broccoli and carrots before putting it into the spare freezer in the garage.

 

To say that the dog 'loves it' would be a fair understatement! I can see a real big change in the way that he is when we are out walking too. His energy levels are through the roof!! He is as busy as my (soon to be) father in laws springer and he seems as alert as any dog that I have ever seen.

 

Everybody has commented on his unbelievably elevated energy levels. He also seems to be a lot more bold when encountering things that traditionally he wouldn't of thrown himself into. Like jumping over rivers that have a boggy bank either side. Seems to just throw himself at these things now with 100% commitment and confidence.

 

He is also just starting to show some signs of a bit more fat on him too - which was the original reason why I decided to try tripe but I have found that combining it with offal is working well.

 

Really happy with how this has panned out and I don't think that i'll be going back to a 100% dry dog food diet ever again as the change is impressive.
