Howa 223 Twist Rate

Hi guys as above how can I find out the twist rate on my gun some sites say 1:9 and some say 1:12 is there some where on my gun I can find out please

Put a cleaning rod down there and measure how far it takes to do one full revolution. It's almost certainly a 1:12 though.

I just looked on that link it says 1.12 but on the howa site it says 1.9 like

Does it really matter what twist rate is as im only shooting fox

Not really, but you asked.

 

1:12 is fine for up to about 55gr ammo.

Hi guys just had it confirmed by Highland outdoors that my howa 1500 stainless in 223 is a 1 in 9 twist so what is the highest grain ammo I could use

hi . . . i too recently bought a howa 1500 in 223. phoned shop i bought it from they said it was 1 in 12, but on the cleaning rod test i was getting 1 in 9 so i did same & phoned highland guns & they said yes, 1 in 9. they also said all howas new 223s are 1 in 9 now? I have been told i can use heavy grain bullets up to 75 grains? but not used anything over 55 gr yet.
