Whats This All About

A friend of mine has just bought a little place in Wales so went for a visit recently.... whilst taking a countryside walk we came across this strange looking creation......would one of you knowledgable folk be able to tell us what exactly it is ? .....All pleased with his new purchase my mate said " even the fly tippers are tidy round here "

Its a welsh hedgehog trap they attract them in there all year then light the straw on st davids day and eat them and sing songs bout beatin the English, theyve been doing it for centuries

It ,s an ancient Welsh druid custom dating from the 15th century ,they are found in many parts of Wales and come in various shapes and guises ,I dont know the literal translation but locally they are

Yes its slate Snapper......no metal in it...........is this where a couple of dosey cockneys dont know if they are having the piss taken out of them or not :D .......It took me until the " beatin the English " bit to realise JDHUNTING,s post wasnt serious.......or was it im still none the wiser :laugh:

No metal in it I'd say farmer just wanting it kept tidy till he lights it, slate to keep it dry, but knowing the Welsh it will probably be some sort of protection for there growing leeks lol

What area did he buy in gnash .......

Just outside Welshpool a few minutes from Powis Castle......ive fallen for a town we stopped in called Montgomery what a charming little manor full of equally charming people......welcomed a couple of horrible looking fuckers like us in like we was long lost friends.....cant quite get my nut around herds of cows walking along the street :blink: ....but really appealed to me in a strange kind of way !

keep calling the local girls "herds of cows " and you wont be made welcome for long
