My kid is flying from Hong Kong to Bangkok in October to fish, fantastic place for freshwater leviathans, when i first went there i took a 5lb t/c catfish rod and big-pit reel, nowadays i realise thats overgunned as my last trip there in february i saw a guy pulling monsters out with a tiny 6 foot rod and reel combo,i have seen guys with shoulder harnesses, humungous multipliers and uptider rods but unless your trying for 50kg pla buk they arent really needed, get a 3lb t/c carp rod and a shimano baitrunner and your going to have fun with 9kg fish and still have the potential to handle double that size fish, where you fishing?
