villaman 9,982
I have sold my trusty BSA Ultra .177 regged by XTX air , I don't know if I have done the right thing on this one ,its never let me down , so i am in need for another PCP in .177. sooner rather than later . Been looking at the BSA r10 super carbine , BSA se ultra then sending it of to XTX for reg and longer cylinder or this is a big one for me and I don't even know if I can say it ,what for it !!!! DAYSTATE REGAL and once again it would go to XTX Air for a reg and a nice BSA blued barrel , if I go down this route then I would look at a second hand regal where the others would be new How long do I wait for a regal to come up or do I just go and buy one of the BSA guns and if I buy one of them , I am leaning towards the r10 super carbine What are your thoughts or are there any others I should look at ? 3 Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,568
Hi mate, Every one of us is guilty of "chasing rainbows" and trying to "glean" that perfection we all crave. Instead of saying what needs to be done to such and such a rifle, simply justify "why" the Ultra by XTX has to go ? she is better than the Regal . Stick with her Mitch - you could well regret it if you don`t. 2 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
Hi Mitch.I can only add that, after some hair-pulling frustrations with the .177 Regal I have, I now have it pretty well sussed-out where its sweet spot lies and I fill the rifle to about 170 bar pressure which returns 11.3 ft/lbs energy. Any more and it just doesn't work so well. It's going to XTX Air for a proper regulator which it really needs, as soon as funds permit. With that on board, it will be an absolutely fantastic rifle. It is an incredibly accurate rifle no question and it has already provided me with some fantastic bags of rabbits which, I have to conceed, I could not achieve quite so well with the spring rifles I have. The muzzle-crack they produce is their only handicap and they will not silence down to the level of a mere click that the Regal can with the A&M silencer I use on it.Last night I went out with Helen's HAWKE SIDEWINDER 3-12X50 IR 30 half-mil dot scope on it. it took out a rabbit clean at nearly 60 metres and another at 45 metres, in a sidewind from a static hide and prone shooting position. With 3 more at about 30-metres average range. Had there been more about, I'm certain it would have had those as well. I cannot honestly fault the Regal when she's on her game like this. And if it means another £200 for a regulator that can give me 130 shots at 11+ Ft/Lbs instead of about 50 as it currently does, I'll spend the money for what this rifle is capable of delivering.I never thought I'd say this but, after my .177 has been regged by XTX Air, if it delivers what is promised, I'm going for a .22 Regal and match the pair.As long as there are no other problems like a stiff bolt as before, I think, if you give the Regal another chance as I did, you'll change your mind about the Regal and be a very satisfied bunny! Bunnyblatter 1,012
Forget all and buy my FX Vermy mk2. You won't need to spend anything on it as its spot on just as it is Just mount a scope to it and away you go. There's even the option to put a Hugget shroud and mod on it too 1 Quote Link to post
David.evans 5,323
For what it's worth If your spending that money on a regal , and then having all that work done , just seems daft to me ! Take a look at a mk4 is , regged , no power curve , trigger is great , and nothing wrong with the Harper valve Deadly accurate , 232 bar , same size as a carbine , most of all yove nothing to loose by having a look ! We can all change , Just ask Mac Atb Mitch Dave 1 Quote Link to post
