added benefit of nice tender rabbits about

He's going lamping not mollesting children ?

I find it funny how I can go out around august and kill a few half grown rabbits and get hammered for being a summer hunter.   But the same lads will still be out ferreting in February and March kil

The rabbits are teeming on some of my ground atm, im seriously considering going out for an hour tonight for a flick but i feel like I shouldnt as its still august! Come on anyone else been out in august??

:hmm:Spent decades hunting /ferreting/lamping,.. throughout the Summer months..

Had to show my face, or be replaced by another operative...it realy was the pits

Mind you,..it was profitable and the wages from the Contracts, paid the Mortgage,...but I always hated doing the job. Fecking overgrown warrens, rock hard ground, and hot humid conditions.

Rabbiting in the heat of the July/August sun was not what I had been brought up to....

Nowadays,..I prefer quality over quantity,...the money is no longer an issue,..so I can afford to take my time,.find some nice places to have a mouch over,.. and some genuine guys to walk out with....

The Summer will come to an end soon enough,...

Each to there own but find it funny when every year the same names on this site n others are goin out in the summer n then in the season they struggle to get enough work for there dogs they never learn lol

I find it funny how I can go out around august and kill a few half grown rabbits and get hammered for being a summer hunter.

But the same lads will still be out ferreting in February and March killing loads of rabbits with young in their bellies. But that's okay because "it's still the season".

A bit of common sense is what's needed. Not a calendar

For me it's just about managing your dogs land n quarry best you can, also all places are different so if you've spots that's lifting with em n the ground n temps right then I suppose some can get away with it more than others, yeh you can get odd bellied up stuff at any time of the year always been like that that's life n especially abit more now with climate change etc but in general there's a lot more chance of that happening in the summer hence most will leave gear to breed in piece, the lads who've been out summer bashing will either have lame dogs by the time the seasons half way through or not enough rabbits once winter kicks in n a lot of these have more than one dog about em, they will be tellin everyone there struggling to get on enough stuff hoping and hinting for other lads to take them out n provide them with there rabbits..

As Iv said loads tho each to there own it don't bother me what others do I do me own thing..

Can I just make this clear I'm not against making money out of hunting and fair play to you if you can make a few ££ what gets my back up is when they come on here and have a go at people who get a few in the summer months I've seen people pull up with a trailer fill it with rabbits 100 + and still twist that they haven't got enuff to cover costs even more so it's a once a year drive up no respect leaving a big hole full of guts open gates open rubbish beer cans left and verbally aggressive when they are told to clean up let's say they will never get back on or any surrounding land I myself witnessed this as I was building a new barn for the owner who's a couple of hours down the east cost from me !! I often wonder how the 3 of them managed to drive away, you can face up to the farmer not my problem but start laying into his Labrador kicking the living daylight out of it for barking at them well I do draw the line and had to intervene the look on the drivers face when his bruts hit the floor the big man wouldn't even get out to help them until I helped him . It's good to be kind and grateful for what you do just don't sit behind a screen pulling people to bits

Ive been out in every month of the year, when tutoring pups, the rest of the time patience is the only reward an educated and adult dog needs.
