No just got quote on line deerhound cross and that's the price quote thought I be about half that but have to shop about lol

I insure both of mine with pet plan and it's £18 for one and £16 for the other.

Set breed to "lurcher"

as lurcher I got quote for 14.70 as deerhound cross it's £39.15 what type of cover did you choose ?

Ok so tell them it's a lurcher then. Lol.

I'm covered up to £3000 and excess is £75. Not sure what cover level that is.

The only winner with dog insurance are vets you tell them the dog is insured and their price doubles

Yeh but on the flip side you soon find out which vets are out to fleece you.

I've managed to find a good one. They know I'm insured but the last visit (pup with a fractured skull) was pretty reasonable and I won't even bother claiming on the insurance.

If you tell the insurance company that your dog is a working /running dog then you will pay through the nose if they will insure you at all. Technically your dog is a cross bred and a pet so if your vet isn't about to get specific then why rock the boat ?

Petplan don't care i its a working dog or not here is there reply when I asked

12:24:49 [terry] out of interest does it affect any thing if it was a working dog
12:26:45 [Reena] If your dog is getting paid for the work it does it would impact the policy. If the work is voluntary or a hobby it will not have an impact on the policy.

In my experience of insurance companies what they say & what they do is not always the same thing. Some vets state now that if the cost of certain procedures exceeds a certain price then you will have to pay for it yourself and claim the cost from the insurance company yourself. I'm not saying that they are all like that but its not exactly rare these days
