Hornady Super Performance?

I bought two boxes of these for my 223 and went out yesterday evening with no wind

Set a target at 50 yards and it was two shots through same hole

Same at 75 yards, I thought I would check close in case I call a fox right in

But at 100 yards it was 1 inch high which I expected but although three shots were through same hole they were half inch to the left

How can it be centre at 50 and 75 but slightly left with no wind?

I know and thats what I did, what I meant was how can it jump to the left all of a sudden over 25 yards

Like bang on at 75 and to the left at 100 with no cross wind?

That is a bit mad init chris. I had great results with this ammo threw my .22-250 but never had this problem. Could you have been clipping a bit of grass or twig or something. Just thinking you changed position and managed to shoot left. Or when you changed position was your rifle rested on uneven ground?

Grass and twigs would affect trajectory at 100 m. Another thought is whether or not you cleaned your barrel between the 50 and 75 efforts. The slight buildup of crap on the barrel could move the shot at that 100 distance.

Once you adjusted scope at 100 yards did you try it at 50 and 75?

No I didnt dan I'm going to try again at the weekend, but the barrel had been thoroughly cleaned before I started; but not between shots

Let us know how ya get on buddy. I collect the new .243 next Tuesday can't wait. I'll be doing some bloody ammo testing aswel. Gonna try 75g first then 80g and also 58g should be fun on the pocket

Was your barrel cooled down for the 100 Yd. test?

Presuming not.

Maybe it's just glanced off something or you might be twitching due to the distance change.

Seen that happen loads on the ranges where folks (sometimes me too) are too quick to look up and not stay through the scope and this happens.

Your worried about half inch at 100yrds with factory ammo????

Is there a chance that the rifle was canted slightly to the left. This would produce the results you experienced.
