Do you think a collie/grey could hold an adult boar.untill it was dispatched.

Surely that type of dog would be strong enough??

That depends on the size of the pig but I doubt it, are you going to post something to show otherwise?

I know which dog I'd want to use if I had the choice of a collie/grey or an AB.

So you doubt such a dog could hold a large boar.

My mate back in Wales had a few American bulldogs about 17yrs ago he first had them.

The parents were imported direct from America by a very wealthy business man

To use as guard dogs.i filmed them in his garden on my camcorder.

The wife dug the camera out last week but we can't find the mains lead for it.

It's the cassette type lol.

He had some cracking dogs.

They had a similar stamp to a Doberman.but a lot more athletic.they were very lean and in great condition.

I will buy a charging lead and new battery and try and put the video on YouTube if I can convert the tape to digital..

Edited to add..

I think he payed about £5k each for them.but can't remember what lines they were..

I've seen those Bull Arab types get stuck in to them but a good AB will take some beating as a catch dog IMO.

Going way off topic tbh, the original point was there were white bulldog types in the south of the States well before the likes of Scott and Painter resurrected the breed.

Kiwi mate of mine, said no special dogs needed just any medium sized mutt from the pound.

Ok buddy, I wonder why the pigging lads use APBT, AB or Dogo and their crosses  for that kinda work then? ?

But... the bull arab types, hunt their pig and then catch it. In your own words AB are slip/catch dogs nothing more nothing less.
