Would you say to some degree the dogs over here have had it? I mean one looking the wrong way and can end up loosing the dog. Our society is abit of a joke too, god help anyone keeping their dogs in shape. Everyone seems to have fat mutts and thinks anything in shape looks skinny. Just compare to abroad things here arent really in your favour.

I think it's sad that our country turned its back on a breed that is the epitome of courage. Instead we look at the British Bulldog has our mascot, I suppose that breed fits perfectly with the way our country is these days....

I just think it's sad that they became popular with the general public full stop!

And the wheaten ?

Not a popular general public breed yet, thank feck! Don't think they look hard an chavvey enough for street corners!

Though they are getting popular with lurcher lads at the min, so no doubt ten ton of shite will be getting bred, what can ya do though, just the way of things in this lurcher saturated country. They are this years 'must have'!!!

;)

In certain circles the term " Bulldog " within the breed of American Pit Bull Terriers is reserved specifically for the very best examples of the breed......" that dogs a real bulldog " for example wo

I know exactly where Alan lives?.I was at his house last year when he gifted me an undershot male pat which didn't make it.Known him around 20 years. One of the best catchdogs I seen weighed 30 l

I watched the above videos. They are hogs in a pin who have their spirits broke. These type are generally fat also. They have no fight left in them because dumb rednecks put catchdogs on them every Satur

On a similar note, what other breeds would you say are in the show wheaten?

I seen a fella walking 3 on stretchy leads the other day,the young bitch rolled straight over when my lurcher had a sniff, all nice and friendly with me and the dog, like a bunch of shaggy little labs.

As long as that remains the popular image of wheatens they're safe from chavs, the only use i've ever know the KC have.

I think the DDA was a terrible move, banning the breed makes them more appealing to wannabe gangsters... "Look what I've got boys, wanna those illegal fighting dogs."

The law was stupid as it judges dogs on how they look, wouldnt be allowed with people. As for making em more attractive maybe once upon a time but now their so common n popular people dont even take any notice tbh. More than that what made em attractive to idiots id say was the silly media reports. Then theyll write aload of shit and the idiots read it n repeat it only to be caught and the media turn around and say look we told you so.

Will the dda ever get scrapped? Only thing i can think will cause it will be someone some where making money by whatever new shit they bring out.

It's those idiots that ruin everything, if you raise an APBT to be human aggressive you are walking with a loaded gun. They aren't bred to be human aggressive, most dogmen would cull a man biter although plenty of famous dogs over the years were human aggressive.

We had a sort of Dutch equivalent to youre DDa , however it never reduced the biting incidents ,as per usual the bull breeds were to blame according to the kennelclub and the people in the " know "( how convenient). So these breeds were prohibted and restricted like euthanizing and spaying . However afther several years even the non believers had to accept that other breeds like labradors jack russels and all other popular breeds were far outweighing bullbreeds in biting icidents .In the end they scrapped the law .

I think the dda was actually beneficial to the Apbt breed.....people who are into the true value of the breed dont give a monkeys for the dda they have more important things to worry about.....so that tends to raise the quality of dogs when they are not readily available.......the silly dogs walking around the streets today i dont think can really be called Apbt,s its like comparing a crappy little pet Labrador to a serious purpose bred working gundog yes they both carry the same breed name but they are a million miles apart to anyone with any knowledge on the breed........as a breed the Apbt has split between purpose bred performance dogs and fashion accesories.......its just the split isnt down the middle its probably 95/5......which again, for the people who continue to pursue excellence within this breed.....that isnt such a bad thing.

Problem is when a bulldog attacks the dog will do massive damage to anyone.

But whenever a Pit or Staff mix bites someone it is automatically labeled a Pitbull.... The working Pitbull has had lots of shoot off's. The AKC registered American Staffordshire Terrier and the UKC American Pitbull Terrier, later the American Bully which most certainly has Mastiff in the mix

I see someone mentioned the DDA . I don't know about Britain but in Ireland those who had the APBT truly to heart felt that all the bad publicity and the Irish DDA (he's not banned in the Republic) was the best thing to happen the breed because it got so many tossers away from the breed.

Those who held on to them were the real fanciers.

JMHO but the APBT deserves nothing but the best of owners.

Dont see why itll put the idiots off i mean they have no love for the dogs anyway so no real bother having the dog seized. In some ways though maybe the idiots kind of make things easier. The public expect huge red dbb crosses hanging off local park trees. Have been with a friends dog when the woman stroking it says to him "aint he lovely you can tell his a staff because his so friendly not like those pitbulls". Even if the dda was lifted i cant see it making much difference tbh other than for pet owners having to not worry about loosing their dog. Keep a dog fit these days and your cruel and even with no dda think anyone with a big yard set up will be accused of being upto no good.

As for the terrier added it can still be seen in some types of apbt...saw a litter acouple of year ago out of a good size dog and bitch and acouple of the pups were very terrier looking in size weigh and shape....looked spot on

spot on Navek, saw a similar litter myself a few years back, cant remember the cross but had a similar outcome. Largest dog was touching 60lbs and heavy set but also threw out a few dogs around the 25 mark thay where weiry quick dogs

Yes this argument go's on & on........but comparing pitbull attacks to jack russel attacks is like comparing 'scarred for life' to 'loss of life'..........which has sadly been the case in many cases......
