Is The Apbt The True Bulldog Or A Terrier Cross?

Recommended Posts

Looking at some of the early match reports in this book: http://www.amazon.com/A-Complete-History-Fighting-Dogs/dp/1582451281 shows strange matches of dogs including a foxhound ending up in the pit. If some of those dogs won local fights and were bred with bull breeds you could quite easily end up with terrier in the mix.

would love read. It but not paying 200 notes for it lol...anyone recommend me a decent book to read on bull terriers

I've got a fair few books on the APBT, anything by Richard Stratton is good for a newcomer on the breed.

Im a bit of a pit bull book collectorEd Faron's book is a must buy... Also I just spent a fortune buying Bobby halls books bullyson and his sons 1 & 2

That book is still going for crazy money isn't it, I was going to buy it till I saw the price.

Another good one is My Life and Times with The APBT by James Crenshaw.

The search I did on google took me to Amazon and that was 200 dollars lol

For velvet and steel

Got a brand new one sent signed from Bob Stevens in the States for about £50...is he not still selling the ones left over from the court case?...its an ok book but not worth $200 or the other silly prices it went for over here years back...Complete Game dog is good as is the Pit Bull Bible...got a stack of books here Homan ,Semencic ,Stratton Fleig ect...not a bad little investment looking at the prices some go for these days...will be flogging the lot at some point...but as this thread is 'Historical'...I'd recommend Louis Colby's book on the APBT...its a little jem of a book...imo

if we're talking historical, then we have to also include "30yrs with fighting dogs" by george armitage. cracking little book, any conditioning info in these older books is well outdated, but as an insight into how the old fella's used to go about stuff they're priceless. all but my old stratton books have long since gone...

I'm currently reading 50years with apbt by Gary Hammonds and that's a great read so far... I look at it as a little investment. You may spend a little bit but can't see them ever losing their value, the good ones are always going up in price.

Yeah you can get the reprint for much cheaper, don't know if its exactly the same book though? Stratton did like to romanticise a little in his books don't you think? He wasn't a dog man but he had a decent line going at one point, think he's about 80 now.
