jigsaw 11,899
went to the quarry tonight with the wife and the young feller, and took the german shepherd and the pit for a swim along as well,so we ambled along and they jumped in the pool much to the giggles of herself. She likes to see the dogs enjoy themselves, splashing, fetching sticks and generally burning off some steam. It was close to 20 degrees today so it was good for the mutts to cool off. Did a length of the quarry and they had a run around in the cover, headed over to the river and they had another swim and out again for a run about. We had just travelled 50 yards when the fukin shepherd got it into his head to attack the pit.Full blown assault for no reason whatsoever. He ran in from nowhere and latched on to his neck and lifted him from the floor,2 feet in to the air,The son grabbed his collar instantly and gave him a haymaker of a punch which persuaded him to let go his grip.I grabbed the pit,who by the way is 11 years old and never once fought in his life with any dog.placid a hell which is why i have him still. The pit got off and walked away, and i gave the shepherd a bit of a shake and he seemed to be ok so we released him and away he went again, running about and in a playfull manner. He headed back in our direction and grabbed the pit again......NOW I WAS PISSED OFF,......but so too was the pit.The shepherd grabbed the pit but didnt take a proper hold more fukin deep growling than anything but the pit decided enough was enough,he latched on to the shepherds nose and inside his mouth and when I say he latched on I mean only in a way a pit bull can. So it was battle stations all the way,the son again grabbed the shepherd,I grabbed the pit and proceeded to seperate the combatants, which took a minute or two.He shook fuk out of the shepherd and really had a hold.We got them apart fairly quickly and i put the pit on the lead and we let the shepherd go,he headed in the direction of the pit but i left a roar and he backed off.Luckily we were very close to the van and when we got back I put the pit in its cage and the shepherd in the back of the van,so after all the years I saw the pit react and defend himself in earnest for the 1st time since I have him.these 2 will not be enjoying each others company ever again. The wife was traumatised slightly for a bit the son thought it was class to see the old feller come to life and I hate that shepherd even more than i ever thought i could ,but he is a good deterrent so he lives to fight another day,By fuk if he ever pulls a stroke like that again he wont be getting his 5 star treatment for much longer. you think butter wouldnt melt in his mouth the tramp.lol before the onslaught. I thought swimming him against the current would tire him out but NOOO! head under water as well, lol these 2 are the best of mates, lol Edited August 13, 2015 by jigsaw
WILF 47,618
Now mate, this may be utter bollocks but I always remember as a kid folk saying GSD could turn funny in the heat for no good reason........i don't know if there's any truth in that old wives tale but reading your story brought it back to my mind. I'd say the GSD had a lucky escape.
jigsaw 11,899
Wilf, ive kept pits of a decent standard for 23 years a long time ago but in my opinion I reckon this shepherd would tear lumps out of the pit as hes old and not versed in the way of combat techniques, against a ''proper gladiator'' hed be stripped of his title dam fast I reckon. My daughter manages and exercises him full time, takes him jogging with her and does everything else cause I refuse to walk the prick.I despise the mutt cause I know he has a nasty streak where other dogs are concerned, with the family hes a gentle giant and very biddable, with strangers he cant be trusted 100% but does what hes told.Just for safety I lock him up when ever I get mates to the house and when we go outside to the kennells.Hes an excellent guard dog and doesnt miss a trick.

Consider this, ladies and gentlemen of the jury - 20 degrees ! In Ireland ? And we are expected to believe rhis nonsense ! I think not.... marshman 7,758
Didn't he kill a little pup as well they other year jig for no reason ? My brother has got a young GSD as a gaurd at he's front gate anyway the other day for no reason whilst out walking she got stuck into a tiny little bushing terrier he's lad has got and tore a fair size hole in her . He wasn't happy either as it was for no reason and he said it was a bit of a snide attack . But same as yourself she does a good job so she stays .
BGD 6,436
Known a lot of GSDs like that, give very little warning before snapping on another dog and then the next minute acting like nothings happened.

Funny enough my uncles Gsd turned on thier smaller dog the other day in the heat and took a chunk out of its face I'm always wary when I open the gate to go into their yard
DogFox123 1,379
Should have left them down a bit longer, I can guarantee the Shepherd wouldn't be doing it again...
bird 9,982
Should have left them down a bit longer, I can guarantee the Shepherd wouldn't be doing it again... yeh true that , should have let them sort it out there and then. as you know ive got 1x gsd x grey Buck , he great with people and likes other dogs, but I am well aware what he could do if he got nasty to people and dogs, by what he can do in the field , he would wreak my most other dogs deff , with his size+ power plus the speed of the greyhound and his strong jaw he do a lot of damage . Him and Bryn get on very well there in the same kennel but have there own sleeping compartments just leave the door open so either one can go for a piss at night , but I did wonder when reading this post if they ever did kick off, Bryn would be in big trouble if Buck started on him , but Bryn top dog he 8 next month ,Buck 3 year old and they live happy with that . where I lived before there was bloke who had pit or it had a lot in it looked near enough one, as iwas brought up with them, staffs, bullmastiffs so got good idea what it was, I put a post on here before about it. it had very good temp, good with people and dogs but feck was rough in its play, it was about 20in 45lb there about , but strong as fook. Buck very strong dog 28in 86lb , he was knocking this dog down lots of times got his heads over it neck lot times, like he does with other dogs, most times he flattens them lol. But this pit or what ever it was never gave up , he kept coming back for more lol, he wore Buck out he come back to fecked , this pit didn't he wanted to carry on lol .A gsd are deff powerful dogs with good bite on them, but a well bred pit in a different league , as your gsd would have found out it will happen again the gsd got to know who the boss in the yard , and it wont be him , he got to find this out for him self keep a eye on them , don't leave them alone or you get a dead gsd , and very badly bitten pit .
