Tullylish Working Terrier Club Dog Show And Race Day Saturday 8Th August 15

Tullylish Working Terrier Club Saturday 8th August 15

The townland of Tullylish, which borders on the villages of Gilford and Laurencetown, came alive last Saturday the 8th August with the sound of banter and barking dogs. From early morning, Canine men and women, along with their little folk arrived in force with their prized Canine crew in tow, and all out for a great days enjoyment in the summer sunshine

Our Summer Dog shows have become Canine excursions from all parts of the country. Saturday was no exception as there was a big turnout of Terriers, Lurchers and Strong dog people, but a small turnout of Whippets.

Billy Craig was there again winning with 007 and Beauty. The reason for the small turnout of whippets was because there were only two classes on the board for Whippets. I am told this will be rectified again in 2016 with a ring for whippets only. The atmosphere was electric and the weather was good to us all day.

The coursing started at approx 12.30 pm, followed by the showing and straight racing afterwards.

**Here are the Overall Showing Results. Hope I got them right.

A Big Congratulations to all the winners, and also to every one who took part on the day. You are all winners in my eyes.

And Finally, the day would not be complete without thanking the Judges. You all carried out your duties with efficiency, and many thanks for that.

Bluebell (Deirdre Mc Coy) and myself took some photographs, and are now up on the sites.

And Finally, Finally, I always leave the best to last. Yes John Barry, you and your team are simply the best. You run your show with impeccable organization, efficiency, and skill. It was very evident a lot of preparation and hard work went on behind the scenes to make this show a success and a most enjoyable day for everyone. All events went without a hitch, and some very happy people went home with yet another nice trophy for their mantle piece.

John, you are not just a good friend , you are a gentleman and an honest and true sportsman. Thank you , and the Tullylish Working Terrier Club for another top class show this year, and hopefully we can enjoy more of the same again in 2016.

The DWTC Traditional Dog Show Sunday 25thMay 2025
As the showing season has now took off for 2025 and the work in the field complete, it was nice to be able to make our annual trip to the DWTC traditional dog show on Sunday  25th May  in Gilford.  The weather  was not kind to us, with a light wind and several heavy showers in between  classes. This did not dampen the spirits of the show goers who came out to support this now popular annual show. The venue was superb, and the crowd was big.
Our shows are all great meeting places in the summer season for genuine Terrier, Lurcher, Whippet and Strong dog men and women to come together for a bit of craic  and a chat, and maybe go home with a trophy or two. And that is exactly what happened at the DWTC show on Sunday.
It was nice to see so many families, their children and dogs all out on enjoying a day out at the sport we love. Our passion is showing with our Canine friends in the summer and back to the field with them in the winter.
As show time was about to start, first on the menu and first in the ring was the childrens handling class. And boy did these little folk show their dogs. There were 24 very excited we people in the ring and everyone with their very special friend. You were all winners on the day and all went home with bags of lovely goodies to munch on. Well done to all.
The show commenced at approximately 1.00pm.
*Here are the Overall Showing Results

Congratulations to the winners and all the children in the ring on Sunday.

And Finally, Finally, I always leave the best to last. Yes Tom and Leanne Barry, Ethan, Morgan, and your back up team Gary Mitchell and Thomas Coleman, you are all simply the best. Your show was run with impeccable organisation and everything ran without a hitch.
It was very evident a lot of preparation and hard work went on behind the scenes to make this show a success this year again and was a most enjoyable day for everyone.
Tom and Leanne, a brilliant day was had by all despite the rain. The window for Country Sports is in our blood and hopefully we will meet again at your show in 2026 for more of the same.
