mad4digging 663
My pal gifted me a dog but he has got very nervous since I put him in my kennels, when my pal had him he was full of life running up and down the kennel but now in my kennels he just keeps going into his box . Did anyone ever see a dog act like this? Edited August 11, 2015 by mad4digging Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
How old is the dog? Had it ever been out of the kennels where it lived before you got it? Quote Link to post
keepdiggin 9,559
sure he's not just nice and chilled in his "space"? whats he like out the kennel? Quote Link to post

So what you're saying is that he might have the first terrier in history that would rather be in it's box than bouncing of the wire looking for attention. You don't have to be Ceaser Milan (or whatever he's called) to see that the terrier is making strange with his new surroundings and owner and all the different sounds and smells that comes with that. Some dogs are quicker to adjust than others and plenty of attention and time should sort it out, depending what sort of a dogman the new owner is. It amazes me that there's people who think that swapping dogs from billy to jack all the time takes nothing out of them. IMO it usually destroys them in the end. 11 Quote Link to post
DigItDeep 15
It'll take time to win them over but you have to make the effort spend as much time with them as you can an plenty of walks out and they'll come round. Quote Link to post
WILF 46,772
Time, patience, attention and kindness......that's all it usually needs 2 Quote Link to post
dillydog 8,463
Neil you're spot on, you get the same with the idoits buying and selling terriers. A dog is a pack animal, once you've taken them out of their usual surrounding it upsets their head and wellbeing. Givr the pup time to adjust and spend some time introducing yourself to it. 8 Quote Link to post

mad4digging 663
I will stick to it , I just found it strange that he went so nervous when usually he is very straightforward terrier ,I knew he has to get use to his surroundings Quote Link to post
Ruby Lakey 18
Been here before with a new dog that was great through the day but really unsettled at night. Assuming your not doing anything stupid, sounds like your doing the right stuff so just take your time and it should sort itself out. All the best. 1 Quote Link to post

Bang on Hate seeing dogs be passed from pillar to post, every new home takes a bit more out of them until like you say they end up broken nervy dogs not knowing whether they're coming or going 2 Quote Link to post
mad4digging 663
The dog has not been passed on from billy to jack, my mate was just doing me a favour giving me a worker as I had a bit of bad luck last week Quote Link to post
