I make my own fenn trap cages, along with various other trap cubby tunnels and bird box types, housing either fenn or bodygrip traps.

Each situation is different and the enviroment dictates which i use.

Pros for me!

Very cheap to make! (Access to free wire mesh!)

(I bought the trap making pliers and clips from Fourteenacre)

Trap can be placed in small areas.

Painted olive green to blend in.

CONS

Safe placement is essential.

Not as discreet as some traps.

A caught squirrel will be left dangling half in, half out (so may offend others?)

A possible occurance using a fenn trap? A caught squirrel may not be caught + killed outright ie. Caught by its leg.

The trap cage ideally needs to be padlocked to prevent theft + injury to humans.

Cage must be securely fitted.

Fenn traps should not be used where red squirrels are present.

Loose bait may drop out through the cage floor.

May need protection from the weather?

ATB.
