get a good gundog training book, the principles of mooching are little different from that of a gun dog

Absolutely. If your mate is a good man with a lamp and dog then why not spend this whole Winter carrying his rabbits. It will sharpen up your own reflexes and mind and you'll make up your own mind ov

Only messing. Everyone will tell you to get out with your dog but I remember entering my first lurcher and wanting to soak up every single bit of info available, whether that was from hands on experience, advice from knowledgeable lads and not so knowledgeable lads or reading books and magazines.

And you don't want to make a single mistake and get the best out of your dog. Best of luck.

Scooby by J. Darcy is a good insight into the thrills and spills of rearing and entering a lurcher.

Get yourself out and about with a lamper, easier said than done perhaps, yet you will learn more in one night, from a competent lamper, than you will from a library full of books.Don,t be fazed about starting out and expect to make mistakes,we all did,ask for a night out local to you and at a later date any decent lamper will allow you to let the youngster tag along for a couple of easy slips.

It's completely up to you but if your after putting a lot of time into training your dog to a high standard which includes retrieving to hand and a quick recall sometimes, depending on your dogs temperament, bringing a pup out on the lamp with another dog can have a negative impact on him.

JMHO.
