I was in shepherds bush last year,my mate is proper cockney,he said lets pop in 'ear so we went into Cooke's,it was like stepping back in time, union jacks on the wall and everyone speaking english, all that was missing was barber windsor and pearly kings and queens, the food was nice, jellied eels pie and mash and liquer, then we left olde worlde london as was and stepped back outside onto the pavement of modern "Multicultural" london as is

Manzies in Bermondsy is the same...white English staff serving white English customers...step out side well as you said above...Steve Jones the guitarist of the SexPistols spent a fortune getting pie&mash from Cookes sent out to L.A..(probably why hes a fat cnut these days)...was the grub that great?...Manzies is ok...Castle's in Camden not so great

When I used to work near Portobello Road, my boss used to treat us all to pie and mash most Friday lunchtimes. Out of about 20 of us, 2 would have liquor and 18 would have gravy.

Same thing when you have a pint in the old eastend boozer the Blind Begger...white bar staff and punters inside...everyone working and shopping on the market stalls outside are black...thats the myth of a multicultural society for you...a countrys national identity being diluted...places like commercial road you could be in any European City
