Ive got mine on gain puppy and sapling aswell mate but still mix it with a load of raw meats they soon bulk up

Let the pup eat as much as it wants it's got its whole life to be a lean mean killing machine.the advice on them dog foods are a load of shiite.get some raw into it its a nice looking pup but I agree with most it could do with a few extra lbs on it.all the best with it mate

I had a go about it being skinny last time an I think it was as for now that pup don't look toned to me looks ten times better then before Darcy you always have good advice but you can't be right all the time that pup looks well in my opinion give the lad a break he must be doing something right get off his back

Yes, it looks better than before, but it could hardly look worse could it.

To be honest, it's animal abuse having a puppy like that one was. I am right in so much as the pup needs more food. If some fool is trying to feed his dog from the back of a sack of dog food then I think it sums it all up.

It tells me a lot about someone when they let their pup get in that state to start off with.

I feel so sorry for the pup.....

It is a big mistake to only give a dog what it says on the back of the bag, as this is a rough guide only. Many dogs need far more than the recommended amount. A lot depends on the dog's metabolism, how fast it uses the food, and how much exercise the dog is getting.

 

As for using Gain, there could well be an ingredient that doesn't 100% agree with your dog's body, or it may be lacking in something that your dog needs. That doesn't mean he will be ill from it, just not be doing very well. Each animal is unique, with individual needs. If your other dogs look fine on that food, then maybe this pup needs something different. Have you tried feeding him raw?

I only keep collie based, cur dogs,..and they can run just fast enough,.. to keep themselves warm,..

 

However,..most successful racing and coursing lads that I have met over the years,..all seem to exercise, feed and condition their charges, in an individual manner...They tell me,..that like human athletes,..we are all different and some of their best dogs require a personal feeding regime...

 

As for raw feeding,...well,..I remember my Father and most of the local shepherding guys, feeding their fox packs, terriers/lurchers, etc,..on raw meaty bones, tripes, porridge, fallen stock,.you name it,..they put it down for em!

But the conditioning of a specialist hare coursing dog,. possibly needs a wee bit more thought...

 

But, I could well be wrong...

Of course not, so let's not defend THIS. We are offering advice, that's all. It's not a personal attack, but advice on the welfare of a pup. Yes, there is a right and a wrong way, or course there is. And this picture illustrates the wrong way. Let's not argue about it, the pup is in extremely poor condition in the photo.

 

I'm glad that the pup is heavier, but it's hardly fat and it still needs MORE weight on it. But it's each to their own.......

Not bringing anyone down but it's not the hardest thing to do full bowl of complete left done all the time If the pups hungry can help it's self plus 3 meals of raw a day hood luck with it

Couldn't care less personal an the lads got to have improved something in this dogs diet for it to have put a little on in that pic you put up it was skinny an I said it myself iam sure if he keeps going with what he's doing an adds abit of raw to its diet it will help he's as the advise he needs if he takes it or not well we'll see that's last I've got to say on the matter Atb with the pup lad
