Retrieving From Water...

Anyone else got lurchers what will retrieve from water?

 

Ive never had a lurcher what loves the water before. My brindle will go in for a drink or if I tell her to but doesn't really swim and certainly wouldn't retrieve from water. I've known of others what won't even go in.

 

This pup has loved the water from day one. At 10 weeks old she was splashing about.

 

This was yesterday retrieving a bottle off a pond...

my old dog would just about retrieve anything you chucked out for him aslong has it was summer. he wasnt so keen in the dead of winter.

My pup love the water will retrieve from it my we tesses father was meant to be great dog for that retrieving duck and other shot bird we tess will go in water after mink and otter and live duck lol

Not a chance have to tie them up just to wash then with a bucket and hose, if I walk down the river an and decide to get it they will come in when it's warm but only in the shallows

Swimming is great exercise for the work dogs,...especially during the Summer months when the ground is baked rock hard..The dogs can realy use their muscles to the fullest effect,.. without the risk of jarring/damaging injury..

No but mate of mine had a terrier used to dive down in water on the golf course when you'd drop golf balls in deep ponds.till one the other lads taught to throw the ball out onto the road one day.

My mate had a dog that didn't like water about 3 year old, we took it down the river and walked up the middle for a bit it went waist deep in places so the dog had to swim at points, it doesn't bother him now and he jumps in water now to retrieve stuff. Worked out quite well

A few decent brownies and a very few salmon but on it's day it's a very good seatrout river. Where I live is quite high up the river so it depends on how much rain falls as to how many fish get here before the end of the season. It's a lovely deserted place to fish mostly, with otters, kingfishers,dippers, harriers.... all kinds of wildlife so even when I catch nothing it's a good place to spend a day.
