If you use a counterbalance in conjunction with a long enough lever it can easily be done. Very slowly but can be done. Huge blocks of stone can be lifted with just a small hole in the top and a basic metal alloy anchor (bronze, etc). When pulled up, the part inserted into the hole actually spreads creating a perfect secure hold.
