I was talking to a lad from wales and he said there are quite a few wild polecats running about where he lives

always a few killed on the roads round us, all types of sizes and colours and a good few polecats included, most of them will be out of stock that blokes have abandoned while hunting,or just got fed up and let them go,still suprisiingly there are still a good few rabbits about.

Always check them dead ferrets for a collar. Only Mk 1's mind you.

I've got one I found a couple of years ago, She was in a bad way when I picked her up, one eye completely closed and thin as hell but she's been the best ferret I've ever had. Whenever I give them a run in the garden she still hunts insects, so I guess she got that from when she was on her own. Also, on the couple of occasions they have escaped she's never gone more than a few yards from the pen, I reckon she knows where her breads buttered.

Think your right about knowing where their breads buttered ,my youngest has let all mine out more than once never lost one....ferals have thrived over the last few years see em quite a lot..

Think of the folk still going out without a locator they lose a very good ferret that's good at its job it's going to survive very well , imagine the amount of ferrets one mug could loose in a season or two .

See a few when we are out working and pick up a odd one in the traps never got one with a collar on it yet though
