I've tried but I found much more enlightenment, truth and beauty in life, how do you know you have the right one? Who's to say Yahweh is the correct God? Maybe Islam is right, maybe Joseph smith is right, maybe Thor is right.........anybody who chooses to believe in a faith is already atheist against every other religion except the one they've chosen to throw in with I'm no different I've just gone gone one faith more than you.

An by the way atheist, is a lack of beleif in dietys, not believing one an dismissing the rest.

I'm aware of that I was just trying to make a point about belief in one and not the others but fair play I will admit to using the wrong wording. I see myself as an anti theist but if really pushed the only logical answer anybody with an open mind could say is that they are agnostic I'd have to say that because given evidence I would change but until that day I'm happier without theism in my life.

Like you said earlier about drug addicts and alcoholics asking Jesus and he releases them from that burden, so does he release everybody?

As regards the thing about alcoholics and druggies turning to God i cant see a problem with that desperate people do desperate things if it puts them on the right path thats a good thing surely ?......Ive seen desperate people walk into gyms and get absorbed in fitness as a way of not squandering their life and health away,some desperate people go mad into counselling meetings and suchlike.........if someone walks into a church and it helps then how can God not be a good thing.
