Border Terrier X Whippet

Recommended Posts

I came across a man walking a lovely little lurcher this morning while walking my two in the local woods the dog in question had a big bell hanging round it's neck when I enquired about the dog the man told me it was a border terrier x whippet three years old and he had fitted the bell to its collar because it was always killing squirrels and rabbits and being just a pet the man didn't want it killing anything. Like I said it was a lovely little dog and it was obviously very handy with a natural hunting instinct but not a cross I've seen before, has any one on here had any experience with the border x whippet? I would certainly own that dog if I had the chance..

I have one here from a litter I had, a year old next month, she's crackers! Very keen and had fair share of rabbits already,

A friend took a good pic of my bitch on her first birthday yesterday, retrieving a rabbit as big as her!

I could do with her wearing a anchor around her neck to stop her doing a runner! She's settling down a bit now thankfully,

Turned out nice mate  How did that black dog pup work out?Looked to have thrown more to the whippet if memory serves me right...

i would love to own a little dog like this for daytime work it would be a cracking little bushing dog but does it ever show any interest in going to ground? Edited by LaddyLurcher

I had one years ago and I found she was too slow in the open and was a bit unwilling to tackle the tight bramble cover we have round here. I think mostly Bedlington crosses come out as a lurcher in their own right due to the bedlington having decent pace to start with.
