A selection of dogs that are all beardie/border bred

the first 3 are 3/8 5/8 and the merle is a 1/2 bred , the dark brindle is my mates and does seem to have thrown more to the collie she is a fair bit smaller than my brindle who is her half sister and also lacks a little bit of pace but has just started lamping and is catching rabbits well

Mine arent really lookers so the pics probably wont interest most folk, but they are good honest dogs, great hunters and pot fillers and they have kept me very amused over the years :toast:

All three of these bitches are 3/8 collie 5/8 greyhound but the collie part of the breeding is a mix of beardie and border . the collie marked bitch was sired by a long dead dog called Enoch and the 2 brindles are half sisters sired by a dog called Tweedle Dum

The collie marked bitch has always been a daytime mooching bitch and is stricltly a rabbiting dog

the light brindle is a good bitch but has not really been tried on stuff that bites back or deer as obviously it is banned :whistling: but has given plenty of sport on other fur and feather in the daytime and on the lamp

the dark brindle is still a young bitch and has just started her working life but is showing promise at rabbits and will get the opportunity to try at other stuff as she gets more experienced

Hope this helps

Anyone using welsh collie lurchers??

cheers magie pie.. :)

iv bred and worked border colliie cross greyhounds for a long time. in my oppinion if looking for a rabbit dog the best way is greyhound shire collie dam. be aware if worked regular on lamp and i mean regular (4-5 nights a week weather permmitting) the older they get (4 years plus) the collie cross gets a little to intelligent and starts picking what to run such as if the quarry is to near a hedge ect. you may class it as coserving energy. i class it as to clever. iv had better sucsess with collie greyhound x bull greyhound. all the best dai dogs

Do they get picky because of daytime work or just regular lamp work? Mine wont run them daytime on the hedge but willl on the lamp as she knows they will turn off dyke sometimes and the chase is on.

what precentage is the collie bull? I would put a racy 3/4grey 1/4 bull over a solid first cross collie if i was think of that type of breading.. Or to you think that not enoght collie and would be two fast?

i own quite a number of dogs at present.all bred and trained by myself, the one that stands out on rabbits and big rabbits. is a bitch bred out of a border collie(bitch) cross greyhound (dog) back to a 3/8th bull 5/8th greyhound thus giving a bit more drive. i would recommend this for an all round lurcher capable of taking what ever you like. all the best dai dogs
