desertbred 5,490
Islam does not allow any pre stunning recoverable or not so the BVA is wrong to state this. Kosher and halal both derive the sauce odf slaughter from Abraham and is excactly the same. There is a licensing halal body in ukand they certify the method used is in conformity with the traditional method no stunning or restraints at the time of slaughter. Guest ragumup
Compare Halal slaughter with some of the videos Wilf posted tell me what should be eliminated?, Just as I hunt my dogs inspite of the Ban ,if Halal slaughter were to be banned I would continue with that not change my faith to suit you or the Government.I'm not saying anything should be banned I'm saying that if a political party is looking into a form of hunting on the grounds of animal welfare then it should also look at Halal Not going to happen because Halal and Kosher are very similar and who pulls the political and financial strings in UK? According to BVA (UK vet association and therefore fairly independent) -90% of halal meat is stunned before slaughter. The difference being that this is a 'recoverable' stun. But it is still stunning. Kosher slaughter allows no stunning what soever. Not even recoverable stuns. In addition, the kosher requirement to de-vein meat means that they only eat the front half of the animal (for animals other than poultry obviously). Everything from the 11th rib back is dumped on the open market, unlabelled. On balance, I would say you are more likely to unknowingly eating unstunned kosher meat than you are unstunned halal meat. Was going to point out stunning is not allowed in Islam I believe it's so the animal can heard the pray over it but desertfreds done it for me ... But how the hell are you gonna slaughter a 750kg beef steer without stunning or restraint That is where the knowledge and skill comes in we regularly halal bulls ,buffalo and camels they are leg tied and then rolled to theground after following certain prescribed procedures at the exact time the reciting of The words Allah- Akbar the leg ties are cut or loosed. with a camel because of the length of neck cuts are made to the femural artery of the leg as well as the throat in order the animal bleeds out quickly. This has been done efor thousands of years and the larger animals are slaughtered by professional Qasi or butchers who have generations doing the job. I have halaled many sheep anf goats for family use and can halal even the bigger ones single handed in no time at alI . Edited July 17, 2015 by desertbred

What about the Egyptian Fatwa Committee? I mean, what makes your Halal better than the next mans? Why is your interpretation of Islamic teachings better than someone elses? LOL, how the f**k we have gotten here I'm not sure. Arguing over the definition of Halal! Edited July 17, 2015 by Born Hunter

LOL, how the f**k we have gotten here I'm not sure. Arguing over the definition of Halal! I go of what the Qran says not what some Mullah says I follow islam not some diluted or warped interpretation, There are some that are Muslim in name only like ISIS and there are some that are Momin {Faithfull} to islam. How it got to islam and Halal I dont Know but its the last day of Rahmadan for me today so off to the Mosque to wind the Mullah up then the local jewish population and burn a few American flags just a normal Friday while its not coursing season
