jessdale 416
Hunt them one at a time. Quote Link to post
ranger777 13
Was told that but just thought that she might learn a bit off the older dog but thanks ! Quote Link to post
jangles 24
Train the youngster on its own ... the pup will just chase after your older dog and put it off its hunting. Get the pup concentrating on you and not its kennel mate. Once your pup is trained then you could work one at a time with the other at heel. Jangles Quote Link to post
The one 8,507
Train them on there own , hunt them on there own and spell them . I would be scared the young bitch would be picking up faults if you worked her with a older dog and your no quick enough to stop her Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
well lads I work 2 together with no probs and remembering my mistakes with the older of the 2 I made sure I was ready to correct any recurrences and I can honestly say the younger of the 2 is a better animal altogether -the only big problem I came up against was the younger dog tried to take game from other dogs mouth but a firm hand and a few weeks training I don't have any bother now -- ps not saying it works for everyone lads Quote Link to post
the monkey 339
Dogs sink to the lowest The younger dog will not pick up the other dogs good points but the older dog will pick up the pups sloppy habits Quote Link to post
ranger777 13
Thanks for all the comments guys I take them on board I have noticed that the older dog not hunting as much [BANNED TEXT] he wit the pup and has gone back a bit in huntin since the pup came along, I kennel both together maybe that needs 2 change, a friend reckons they could be feeding or each other, I don't know it all but just said I'd ask so thanks guys! sean goshawk 189
I hunted my young sprocket pup with my 6 year springer.did the basic training stop and recall command and whistle training on its own.and the fully trained springer I let work the cover and the pup was following him in the cover from 5 months old and working away.
