Guest bigredbusa
in a word.... no as i gather it is a bit to cold for them now (crayfish) but the eels should be on form but i havent had a sniff from them either . im going to start trying a different area now and use different bait , might use a rabbit carcass or something im using one of these , which i might change and go for a more 'pot' design
Blackbear 0
Watcha, An easy and cost effective way to trap eels is with an old t-shirt, some straw and some fish guts or trimmings from the butchers. Tie the t-shirt sleeves and neck, stick a large weight (stones are good) some straw enough to fill out the shirt a bit, then chuck in yer offal and bits tie up the big end . Now slash some small holes about 1-1.5 inches with a knife all over shirt maybe about 10. Remeber to tie a rope to the shirt (mistake has been made) and throw into a decent river. Check next day. What happens is the eels are attracted to the smell of the offal, climb through holes have a munch get nice and stuffed and bed down in the nice comfy hay/straw for a snooze, Bingo nice and easy and not very much work. I've done this thing in ditches as well and it works a treat if the ditches are running a decent amount of water. Good luck.

Had no luck either. I used to catch loads of eels on rod and line in the cuckmere, but they seem to have dried up. Probably none left. Bugger.

mooster 1
Re the T-shirt method....local news headline. "police are searching for a man seen dumping a human torso in a river late last night, eyewitnesses report that the suspect first lay the legless body on the edge of the river before repeatedly stabbing it with a knife. One eyewitness said the torso must be the remains of a person long since dead as it could be smelled from 100 yds away"
