Nice One David Cameron

This amendment as I understand it is for the benefit of game keepers, farmers, pest controllers, huntsman etc it will allow them to use as many hounds/dogs as necessary to flush to guns. There will still be a free vote on the repeal as promised when the time is right and if that goes in your favour the hunting act will be scrapped in its entirety, I think you're lucky to have a generally pro hunting party at the helm and it's certainly the best chance you have.

yeh prob the best chance you will get, but think the votes will go against it at the time, joe public don't want it back and the mps wont upset the apple cart as they say.

Argue, jaw, talk and discuss all you like, but ray has just hit the nail on the head! Legal hunting in general is NEVER coming back!

a combination of f#cktards with camera phones and face book hasn't helped our cause either

People who show the white flag at the first sign of a skirmish dont help anyones cause. i will carry on with my country activities regardless , would rather do it within the law to the best of my abi

With all due respect, I don't think you actually grasp the law.   It is illegal to hunt fox or hare with hounds. it is illegal to hunt fox or hare with lurchers. It is legal to flush fox and hare

I also am just expressing my opinions and raising scenarios and questions that as yet are not answered. I support every kind of sporting activity the ones involving dogs are particular favourites of mine , the issue I am having a problem with is who decided to support the amendment on behalf of country activity participants without open and full consultation of all not just club or organisation members?

The two political hot potatoes in relation to the ban were allways Fox Hunting and Hare Coursing, why do you think they chose the former to amend.....the latter would get very little support and the deal would be sealed  DB give yourself some peace mate, accept coursing will never be legalised again, the best we can hope for is loopholes. The general public are repulsed by it,the landowners hate the associated problems, and most damning of all ,no sane politician would support its return,it would be career suicide  To joe public fox hunting to protect fluffy lambs and chickens appeases their consciences to a degree, slipping dogs on a hare for sport doesn't ,its a no brainer. If the whole thing was repealed tomorrow Im 100% certain something else will be put in place to criminalise coursing. Sorry to piss on your chips mate,I hope Im wrong....but I can see how much this is eating you up  ATB Dave By the way Im sure if they had chosen coursing as the subject for the amendment Im sure the mounted packs would be rallying round to give it their full support :whistling:

I can see both sides of the argument, if they bring in the proprosal, hunts get less attention so more focus on every other aspect of dog work.

By the same token, the existing "Hunting Law" has so many loopholes so the proposed one has gonna have so much scope for mitigation.

I hope.

Cheers, D.

Another thing worth remembering about a repeal....it might not improve anything for the working dog man. Cameron can't just wave a magic wand and hey presto it's back to 2004. Those days are never coming back and competitive coursing will never come back, it will forever again be illegal.

However, in the repeal process different things get voted on. So it means things might get worse for some, not better. That's why things cannot be rushed. There's a hell of alot of MP's against us, their minds won't be changed. Be under no illusion, Cameron wants it repealed, but that doesn't mean it will be. A free vote for a repeal at the moment would fail, that's why there isn't a free vote at the moment. The powers that be, are trying their best, but be aware that it's not easy.

There's an old saying 'keep your powder dry'....

It seems one good thing to come out of this is the amendment that will allow dogs to ground to protect livestock as well as birds for shooting, if this is the case, on that basis alone we'd be daft not to support it, I think we'll have to see what happens! Its a start and the repeal debate hopefully is yet to come.

Do people realise its not a proper conviction. Ive never known a law like it. If ypu get done for trespase in pusuit then its on your record if convicted in court. Get crb its on there but its not the same with the hunting act law. Yes you go to court. Yes you could be fined. But it doesnt make you a criminal as such lol because even if found "GUILTY" it never goes on your actual record. Can get crb and it wont show. Mad as f#ck

It's not about ME mate, I'm in Scotland so It doesn't make any difference for me, I moved here specifically because of the different law, as it happens I love it here and I wouldn't move back even if the whole lot got repealed but I wish all my comrades south of the border the best of luck.

Also about the act i dont think it states who has to own the bird of prey ;) maybe you might be flushing to heavy populated areas of bird of prey sawing above Only have to prove you think your method is exempt from the act then comes under automatic statutory defence under the act. So cant be prosecuted. Hence j d saying if on perm and know about it can prity much do as please. Only found that out yesterday from a game keeper

Assuming the proposed amendment is successful, and this is just the first step to something more substantial re repeal, what would you guess the next step would be JD? It was obvious the hunt would be served first, how can you see them getting a result of any sort for the likes of us :hmm:
