toxo 160
My permission is quite flat and there are places that are heaving with bunnies but I can't get them because of houses, richochets etc. My thoughts are leaning toward going up a tree which solve the problem. Any thoughts on how to get this done? Six inch nails in the tree? telescopic ladder? Quote Link to post
Hydropotesinermis 724
Don't put nails in the tree ffs. Have a look at a folding high seat. Bushwear sell them. or I suppose a telescopic ladder would do if you could get up it safely and get a sturdy rest but it wouldn't be ideal. 1 Quote Link to post

toxo 160
Build a high seat not expensive and all you shots will be going to earth perfect for saftey atb dd . Thems my thoughts dd. I can do it in sections. There's a small hut that just wants the door putting back on and I can store it there. Should work out well because there are three or four other places where they think they're safe at the moment And yes the lack of safe backstops is what got me thinking up a tree in the first place. walshie 2,804
I wouldn't want to balance myself in a tree with a firearm. As hypodermic says, have a look at high seats. I don't know how much they are or just leave the bunnies be until they are in a better position. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
High seat as mentioned, buy or build it. Quote Link to post
toxo 160
Don't think there's a practical answer to this but does anyone know what angle would be a starting point for trying to eliminate ricochets with Win sub HP? Of course the type and hardness of the ground has to be considered but this info would be most useful when designing the height of a high seat. Also, what's the corresponding "bounce" angle? In plain language please. Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
The steeper the angle of a shot, the less likely it is to ricochet. However, be aware there are a lot of factors such as stones in the ground. BTW I mean closer to 90 degrees by steeper. The shallower the angle the more likely a ricochet. However, there's no such thing as safe. There's safer but you can never eliminate the risk 100%. (Edited for clarity) Edited July 9, 2015 by Alsone Quote Link to post

toxo 160
Use an air rifle I'm even getting whining from the 28ftlb Rapid Charlie. There are so many bunnies that the grass is ultra short and the pellets are literally bouncing off the hard ground and that's at bench level. I've got 2/3 12ftlbs but I'd rather build upward than faff around trying to get closer. 2 Quote Link to post

Can you turn the air rifle down? If so try reducing it to 12ftlbs and consider a high seat. Quote Link to post
treecreeper 1,136
how far are they off and how much room have you got? you shouldn't get much trouble with over penetration at 12ft lb especially once its hit the bunny Quote Link to post
