rickymc1 42
My 19week old bull greyhound pups back legs are cow hocked.. He doesn't walk like a normal pup his back legs just hop about. when he runs he's normal.. What's peoples opinions on this is he worth keeping as a working dog? Any advice much appreciated thanks.. They haven't got any better from he started walking! Quote Link to post

desertbred 5,490
My guess would be a genetic defect mate. Hes front feet look a bit 10 to 2 also , could off been calcium and vitamin D deficiency in the bitch or in his diet when young but the hopping business sounds a problem.I know some bulls show a bit hocky but that hopping business doesnt seem right. Personally I would pet him off if it were mine but its your decision , go to a vet get him the once over by the knuckle hes got growing to do if its been like it from a pup and hasnt improved with a bit of conditioning its a uphill task. Gareth12 225
Is it me or has that pup got a really fat tail for a bull x? What was the bill that was used? Back end looks similar to some American Bulldogs I've seen 2 Quote Link to post
Dawn B 212
He could just be a gangly pup, growing. If you could post a video of him trotting away from the camera and back again a couple of time, it will be much easier to see if there is an issue with his movement or if he is just a rangy pup with ;lots of bone and growing to do. His sister and brother are the exact same height as him an they are totally different far better bone structure in them that's why it made me wonder.. There was a couple that come out of litter that were deformities.. Quote Link to post
LurcherLad94 2,582
id rehome him mate i know its hard sometime but will be a lot easier for you in the long run, don't want to spend time training him for next season for him to be useless or accident prone, plenty of pups about at the moment Quote Link to post
jigsaw 11,866
I did with mine, same thing,he could run ok but not the way i needed.Hes in a semi hunting /pet home now.I was fair disapointed when I saw how he turned out,After buying him and paying transport charges and rearing and then he was flat footed,Hes happy out now as is the new owner so it all ended well. If i had pup that had something wrong with it , it would be pts , why risk rehoming it for someone to produce pups from it later in life 5 Quote Link to post
