bernie67 35
thanks for that link charlie.took the gun to local engineers to see if they would be able to cut and thread the barrel, will cost £45,which i thought was good so have to strip it down next week as he only wants barrel. 1 Quote Link to post
bernie67 35
so decided to put a few pellets through the barrel this afternoon just so i have some record of what is was doing before i start mucking about with it next week,10 shot string 563.2 564.0 563.9 569.4 567.0 566.2 560.6 565.7 563.7 566.7 so an 8.8 spread and av of 565.0 and i think 10.4 at muzzle if i am not wrong with jsb 5.52 on another note must say I can really notice the differance between my sfs 97 kt and the untouched 99s.hopefully it will get better once i start messing around with it. jonnie bravo 572
That is rather consistent! Very nice. Try tighter and looser pellets too. I had some really wild variations in power when I played around with this. Quote Link to post
bernie67 35
that was all i had to put through it at the time will try to find best pellet once i have played around with it. Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
Tried a few this morning in the hw99. H&N lead ball weighed in at an average of 15.1 grains and 465 fps @ only 7.25 ft lbs energy. Accuracy was better than I expected at just over an inch at 28 yards. RWS Super-H-Point weighed 14.7 grains and an average velocity of 600.1 fps gave me 11.76 ft lbs energy. Accuracy with these was less than an inch. The champions I tried were hitting the same mark some of the shots. The first two pictures were H&N lead ball top and RWS super-h-point below at just over 30 yards. Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
The lead balls are two different weights @ 15 & 16 grain 5.5mm & 5.6mm. I'll give the 5.6's a try in the hw99 next to see if there's any descernable difference. Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
I have found the H points very consistent too, nice work Quote Link to post

bernie67 35
thanks rimfireboy not to clever with computers. so got the barrel back from engineers had it cut to 10 1/2 " and threaded .given them the piston to polish will pick that up on Monday.also bought a vortek drop in kit for it.have a couple of questions when striping gun there was no top hat on spring is that right ? ]] Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Yep no top hat as standard, take your time sizing your vortek seal mate, a little at a time, until its a nice fit that slides up the cylinder with a bit of pressure, they are brilliant, make a massive difference, I will put one on every Weihrauch I tune from now on Quote Link to post
bernie67 35
will do charlie, question for you charlie do you polish compression chamber or just clean it out before fitting piston.? Edited August 23, 2015 by bernie67 Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
I polished the inside of the cylinder and the piston on mine. How much did the barrel job cost Bernie? I might get mine cut down and screw cut. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
will do charlie, question for you charlie do you polish compression chamber or just clean it out before fitting piston.? No I prefer to just de-grease, and give it a damn good clean out, they usually look pretty good so I dont bother, having said that I cant see it doing any harm if you want to do it.
