what i was lead to believe in the other thread was that its just a name stuck to a type of lurcher and is now stuck to dogs that look like a so called tumbler would have . as far as i would say if its a good dog why does it matter if its a tumbler or what it is aslong as your happy with your dog its all that counts unless you use the name for making a quick ££ .

The only evidence there is of this extinct breed is old quotes from old books. So thats all we have to give us any clues to what 'tumblers' were like and what they did.

The modern fashioned Tumbler looks well. Make the best of them.

I personally wouldnt support this fellas breeding.

i dont no the man personally who breed this dog, but a nice dog however it is breed

"tumblers" were decoy dogs, not lurchers. He claims to have saved the bloodlines.

" The last remnants of the various ancient bloodlines have been rescued from the threat of extinction, when made redundant through the evil man-created Myxomatosis, by blending them together into an all round Lurcher/Tumbler. The Lurcher and Tumbler Welfare and Breed Club was formed with an objective of educating the public to discriminate between the useful character associated with these original old-fashioned poaching bloodlines and the anything cross a Greyhound mentality."

Tumblers have not existed for over 150 years or more. Perhaps he should call them something different.

Here is a helpful quote -

A glossary and etymological dictionary of obsolete and uncommon words - Page 444

by Toone, William - 1832

"TUMBLER, a species of dog, the breed of which is

now extinct, so called from its hunting rabbits, &c.

by not running directly to the game, but in a careless

manner, tumbling about till within reach of

the animal, which it seized by a sudden spring.

Or like a tumbler, that does play

His game and look another way. "

listen mate stop worryong about other peoples dogs and get on with your life and anyway whats jeff burrel ever done to you hes an old man tring to keep an old breed going "let sleeping dogs lie " theres enough antihuning people out there we dont need the hunters against us aswell

I am the bloke who chink is refering to, I have one of Jeff Burrells Lurchers. she is about 5 months old and I am very keen to hear from people who have worked them. I live in the real world so I dont expect to read about mystic dogs taken mystic game, I'm just a humble rabbiter catching the humble rabbit, any other game is a bonus!! The said pup is doing fine. I would just like to read about other peoples experiences with them!!
