Pup shitting in kennel area

Just went out today to feed them tonight and climbed it to a pile of shit. The pup done it once when it first went in the kennel, never seen it again until just now. Not sure if it was another one of or loads because its dark. I'll need to look and clean it out tomorrow. She shares this pen with my 13 month bitch too. They have a 9x6 run which they normally use if they can't hold it in till they get let out on the loose. BTW its 10 week old. I know how to house train a dog but with not being there when it does the foul deed i not sure how to handle the situation? Im not one for all that scream at the dog, giving it a belt and rubbing its nose in it. Especially not lurcher's there too laid back without becoming timid. What can you suggest i try? Its a filthy habit and not very nice for either to live with.

 

BTW i don't normally go in the kennel section(basically just a shed with bedding in and a hole cut out the side attached to a run) everyday. Its normally just once-twice a week to make sure its tidy etc. I usually just clean the run area out and feed them, let them out etc from there.

its apup its going to shit inside before long she wont want the smell inside and o it outside. they tend to do it inside if its cold out.

agree with this...one of mine is kept in a shed when it's cold she will simply get out of her bedding drop me a load and climb back in the warm bedding..make the sleeping area smaller...the pup should go outside..good luck..

Just to add, John; I feel that ten weeks is right up to the border line with a pup anyway. I usually grit my teeth and tell myself that - with daily attention - twelve to fifteen weeks will see the end of the usual nightmare.

 

Probably as much a case of the pup just can't quite help itself just yet.
