Light float set up, smallish hook and plenty of bread mashed up as ground bait. The tide might take most of it away so take a few cheap loaves and plenty of patience.

I just gave that linked thread a quick scan TC and I didnt see anyone adding pilchard oil to their mash, maybe I missed it ? But it seems real popular round here. Its available from most tackle shops that lean to the sea fishing side of things...

Hi I live in Devon on the river Dart about 10 miles inland its bread flake this far up river, but if we fish near the mouth or rock marks open sea we use mackerel flesh no skin or top bait fillets of sprats with skin on. Mackerel just a ball of flesh but sprat you stitch in and out starting at the tail end then thread up the trace, then with two finger above the fillet slide it down onto size 10 hook. if up river bread flake you might like to use a smaller hook say size 12.

Cheers Arry
