Nicepix 5,650
I'm using little else at the moment. Just them and a few Duffus if I can carve a clean hole out of the baked soil. I'll be coming over in November so let me know if you want any. The price is on the other thread and postage will be at cost. 1 Quote Link to post
BRY 79
Cheers I will be interested in the Mcoy type, family are off to France on holls in 2 weeks was thinking asking them to bring me a few back to try . But I guess they and I wouldn't know which type is good and which is rubbish. Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Write down the names: 'Gamm Vert' (the garden centre chain) and 'Lucifer' (the manufacturers of the traps) They do two traps with triggers and a setting device on a blister pack card for around €5 - €6.The price varies from shop to shop for some strange reason. Then you need some thin, strong twine to secure the trigger to the trap. I use 8olb fishing braid, but builder's twine is OK. Leave them out overnight while set and any that have gone off in the morning might need tweaking. The most common reason for this is not being placed square or misaligned triggers..... It might seem fiddly getting the twine length right, but it saves a load of time when placing the traps as the trigger does not displace as it is retained in the correct position by the twine. 1 Quote Link to post

Nicepix 5,650
Still struggling on. Had another job similar to last week's one where there was no new activity and little to show where the moles might be hiding from the sun. All the garden was bone dry and the bottom of the tunnels dusty and full of fallen stones. Managed to winkle two out though. One from alongside a flower bed and another from a run coming from under the shed. Nothing on the books for next week and if that stays the same it will be my first week without work in over two years. I've still got my contract work and I'll hopefully make up for it once the rains arrive. Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Still struggling on out here. We've had a couple of good downpours that have revitalised the grass but the moles are still not venturing out into the open areas except where there is a lot of shade or a source of moisture. Most of the jobs are to catch moles that are occasionally running into gardens from overgrown areas. I just set Putanges and leave them for a few days. I did one new job last week where the septic tank was creating an area of humidity in the middle of the garden but the mole was running very deep in gritty. soil. When I eventually got him he had the biggest hands I've ever come across. on a mole. I've just got a call back to another customer who has a chateau with outbuildings that have no guttering and so drain straight onto the garden. I'm guessing that last weekend's thunderstorms have deposited some water in the lawned areas downhill of the buildings. It keeps me out of mischief. Quote Link to post
