trenchfoot 4,243
Its single track lanes around much of here. They ride like they have a keeper after them. The collie on my yard hates them with a passion, a makes them ride even faster. The regulars have stopped riding up here now due to gravel and bush rash
walshie 2,804
The road outside my house is actually a cycle route rather than a road. Luckily the hill is so steep I've yet to see a bike on it.
AKA-BRINDLE 879
Nothing worse than seeing guys out enjoying their sport. Makes me sick. You'd think they'd ride in single file so you could pass them faster and closer? Like horses out hunting, or guys walking dogs on country roads, if they just clung in by the ditch so I could tear past them without dropping a rev, it'd be a better world. When I have to lift my foot off the floor and drop a gear for some child walking on the road or people cycling or hounds crossing a road? Well a little bit of me dies. Another man's sport? F*ck 'em all (all except my sport) It's a lack of tolerance for another man's sport, that lead to a ban on hunting in the UK. Out hunting in Ireland nothing seems to annoy people more than having to slow down for a minute or so for hounds or horses. They could care less about hunting, but holy shit delay them on a back country road in winter on a saturday or sunday and they will go mental!!! Nothing wrong with anyone enjoying their sport...But you dont see the local Boxing club sparring in the Post office or the local football team having a kick about in Tesco's car park do you?...they do their sport in an appropriate place without hindering the general public...cyclists 3 abreast down small country lanes is pig ignorant and potentially dangerous for car driver and cyclist...maybe they should do their sport at somewhere more sutible a velodrome or cycle/race track like other sports do...can not see a connection to cycling and hunting at all...hounds and horses can only do their sport in the countryside...its like being stuck behind a tractor on a country lane...you know it has to be there. Now the Lycra thing i can never understand...for sure in the Olympics where every nano second counts...but some sweaty old bloke up a back lane?!!...be a bit like me driving out in Formula 1 overalls and crash helmet. Here's what i mean by a lack of tolerance in England. I did 6 hours training in Cork,Ireland the other week with one guy. One car beep and shouted at us, English Reg. I did 6 hours this winter in UK with Yanto Barker (Top ranked british Professional last 2 seasons) 2 cars hit him on the elbow as we were riding single file, at least 10 "buzzed us" driving as close as possible without hitting us and countless people shouted the usual C8nts,W&nkers etc etc When I trained to box we always ran miles on the roads and footpaths in a group. In Ireland that usually met with lighthearted banter. Irish people are a lot more tolerant, we can hunt. English people couldn't even tolerate English Foxhunting. Why Lycra??? Do 6 hours in the rain wearing jeans and you'd end up going transgender "Lack of tolerance in England"...give it a rest bryan!...read Jigsaws posts on the subject...whats that then? Irish tolerance...i grew up for the first 16yrs of my life in the country...theres nothing anyone can tell me about cycling on country lanes..the countryside is not your playground and racetrack... people have to live and work in the countryside and people like you need to have respect and have consideration for them going about their business..not riding 3 abreast holding everyone up...and another bit of ignorance i will pull you up on...where you said about lads walking dogs cling on to ditchsides...let me educate you on a bit of hedgerow/country lane etiquette...if a vehicle is coming too right you get up on the bank or verge letting the motor pass...not wandering round the road like you own the place...where i came from you sound the horn approaching blind bends...so walkers know to get out the way. No one seriously trains for any sports in jeans...stupid thing to say...these cyclist may dress up like bradley wiggins...but thats far from what they are..most come out dressed up after watching the tour de france...their cycling wouldnt be effected at all by wearing a normal pair of sport/trainng shorts Edited June 27, 2015 by AKA-BRINDLE

If leaning over your saddle on a hill section letting the guy behind get all hot looking at your back wheels sticking thru the lycra is your hobby that's fine.just pull over to let paying road users threw.or stop at the nearist woods and rim each other letting the traffic flow
brookie 1,193
Loads round the Wye valley and Abergavenny ,3 abreast in mobs. I dream of going death race 2000 on them. dont mention our town abergavenny ffs ,theyre like a plague here everyfuckingwhere 3 and 4 abreast and purposely slowing down and will not pull over for you to pass a riding crop comes in handy on the passengers side when you do eventually get to pass they pull over sharpish for the next bloke.we are all dreading the yearly bike race here ,poxy road closures ,thousands of bikes every where .
terryd 8,385
nothing wrong with lycra makes for comfy cycling. I don't wear it my self just my normal work clothes and a wicking t shirt. Don't sweat nowadays just pop on a fresh t shirt in work and good to go Tour de france soon folks us cyclists get all inspired then so look out
dytkos 17,784
I walk my dogs first thing and sometimes during the day on a disused railway line thats attracts tourists, commuters and pleasure cyclists as well as runners, walkers and horse riders. Most are OK but you get the odd idiot who thinks its smart to go past as quick as possible.I've had dogs T Boned on a few ocaisions and also had a few cyclists "fall off" when they've got too close. The ones who ring there bell once in the distance to warn of their approach I don't mind, its the ones who constantly ring to say "Get out of the way" usually get slowed up LOL Cheers, D. PS I've rode MTBs for many, many years, used to race but I treat cyclists like I treat motorists, dependant on whether they are idiots or not.

gnasher16 30,046
He wanted us on the roads so he could drive alongside shouting abuse while drove out to the turn around point, making sure we didn't short cut it, lie to us about our pace. Shout more abuse on the way back. There bigger lads got dogs abuse. Then he was ready to start training. Not to be an arse about it........but a trainer who needs to make sure his fighters are not cutting corners is probably training the wrong fighters, either that or he,s a failed sergeant major.....should of told him to get on his bike Edited June 27, 2015 by gnasher16
