lukey 1,621
Im not normally the type to go all soppy but must admit ive been all choked up this weekend ive not had the greatest relationship with my boy who is grown up now but got a call from him yesterday asking to meet up and we,ve had a cracking time together talking stuff through and drawing a line in the sand about certain things he treated me to a lovely meal today,i must admit he,s grown up a very classy young man i cant take any credit but just watching the way he carries himself certainly made me proud.....even more proud that we,ll be a bit closer from now on.....lovely day all round and a high five to all the other dads out there.......f****n high five you can tell ive been around a youngster all wknd Nice one mate, what age is he? At the end of the day your still his dad n always will be. I was never that close to my dad growing up but its got a bit better as I've grown up, he was always very quiet but I know now it's just the way he was, was even the same with my boys but with my wee girl he's daft on her and has totally opened up around went all soppy. I make sure I tell all of my kids every day that I love them and always will

socks 32,253
Had a great day lots of presents and spoilt ...,I don't have a great relationship with my old fella and we don't see each other or talk for months on end and that's how it's always going to be ...,spending half my life working away I was worried I would have the same relationship with my kids but luckily it's good ... Even my boy who's in his 20's will give me a kiss and tell me he loves me ... After my upbringing I still find it strange that my boy shows me so much affection BUT I wouldn't have it any other way ... Now that I don't need to be away all the time when the time comes I plan on trying to be a great grandfather ...,and be the type of grandfather where the kids want to come and see me and not leave ... I am a much calmer and more patient person than I was as a youngster so hopefully I can be a great grandfather .......

I don't mean to be nosey but just when you said you felt proud with the way he is ect, I would hate my boys doing the things I done between the age of 17 to about 22, done things that make me cringe thinking back on. Il be happy if they keep themselfs to themselfs and get stuck in at school work ect

My old man was always at work when I was younger, hardly saw him really. Unless we played mother up and when I did see him, it wasn't that much fun! Then I went to work with him when I turned 17 and we have been best mates since. My son absolutely adores his grandparents, every time they/he has to leave he cries his little heart out.
