air gun ant 1,666
What do people think of the Massey furgusons/artic cat? Brothers just bought a 2007 MF 700? Seems ok mechanically just needs a bit of wrk with wheel bearings etc but seems a well built machine?
shovel leaner 7,650
ive done i recon over 30,000 hours on a quad...and 29,000 of them will be on one make only...honda be it fortrax forman or my own farm master..to me the 450cc or the 500 cc manual shift forman IS the best quad money can buy bar none....i would happily set off on a round the world tour on one you are right the Honda is without equal IMO but I got a new one last year and it's made in the states and I don't think it's as good as the jap made ones . The gear selectors are all thumb shift instead of the side gear stick , this means when you select reverse you have to go all down through the gears into neutral to engage reverse . The gears seem more lumpy and not as smooth as the old hydrostatic . Also there is no automatic , which is annoying because sometimes shoot helpers doing the game cart who are not used to selecting gears with there thumb inside mitts were struggling .
the goat 642
Sold the kvf and bought a suzuki king quad 500...what a difference! Wouldn't go back to kawasaki since being on that. My experience with hondas have been spot on but these new suzukis seem to have the edge on anything. The grizzlys are known for heads going regular...without any warning. Blackdog92 2,047
What do people think of the Massey furgusons/artic cat? Brothers just bought a 2007 MF 700? Seems ok mechanically just needs a bit of wrk with wheel bearings etc but seems a well built machine? Ive got a 2005 massey/arctic cat 450 as a spare bike for when were busy at lambing time i picked it up second hand for a grand and it was clean and straight there was still crome on the ball hitch its a decent bike can be a bit un steady on bankings as its set a bit higher than the yamaha. I think massey took there name of the arctic cat products when quality started to slip. When i use to have an arctic cat it went in for a bit of work so carrs sent me a brand new top of the range 500 arctic cat and to be honest it was a piece of junk you needed a 20 acre feild to turn round on it bits were falling of it then on the 3rd day of having it it broke down with the same problem as my bike so they sent a 8 year old yamaha grizzly with bald tyres and it was rough but it was leaps and bounds a head of the arctic cat. So i sold the arctic cat and got a new yamaha 450 and never looked back. This is just my opinion but why do people get these big 700cc quads ive found them to just be big and numb and use a hell of a lot more fuel. My bike gets a lot of work carrying fencing gear up fells and going on some very rough terrain and i find the 400 450 is plenty power while still being nimble.
Rabid 1,936
Interesting reading, I am looking for a road legal quad this week, I was looking at all makes and brands, sizes, but think I had decided to stick with Honda. Any reviews on the trx500 or the trx420 ?
old school 518
Stay away from the electric shifts... The automatics struggle to find the right gears as well Been trying to get the lurcher used to sitting on it but he's not a fan
Rabid 1,936
Exactly the sort of setup I am looking at, but lab instead of lurcher
