Vintage Hw77K

Recommended Posts

Had this out of the cabinet over the last couple of weeks due to a large population of jackdaws that nest near my house.. I'm talking up to 150!

The buggers make a mess of the feeding troughs on the farm I have permission to shoot on and decimate any food I put out for the other birds.

The bathroom window has so far been the perfect spot to snipe them!

Nice rifle, my mate has a very old hw97 and it shoots very sweet compared to my new hw77.

I have bought a hw95 to be going on with so I have a gun to use while I get the 77 worked on.

Has your rifle got better with age and has it been worked on to make it more refined ?.

I find the 77 heavy for stand up shooting free'hand. May be the heavy guns are not made for that.

I know I need to practice a lot but can't help feeling the 77 has a lot to give but it needs working on to get the best out of it.

Dose the sling work without pulling the under lever open ?. I noticed the scope mount looks like a sportsmatch one piece.

Was the but pad a straight fit.

I love to see a rifle that looks like it's been owned for years and and still going strong. I have not fully bonded with my 77 yet but know I will have it for years and it will become a good friend.

the sling works fine, the latch has never opened since I've had it. It's around 29 years old and I've had it reblued by Colin Molloy, Full Monty Tune by Dave Hall and a HW97 stock fitted that came with the adjustable but pad: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/253465-dave-hall-tuned-hw77k/

Don't use it as often as I should. Would love to get into HFTwith it but just don't have the time

Can anybody tell me were the backsight is supposed to sit on the 77 as i have just bought one and it only goes so far down.

Hi Tats

the 77 open rearsight was fixed on to the scope dovetails

I have a 77 but the rearsight was removed to fit a scope by the original owner ;)
