Arry 21,817 Posted July 14, 2015 Report Share Posted July 14, 2015 Try a spinning rod and reel maybe 12lb line don't buy cheap line as its some time springy and tangles. I would go for a 28 gram Toby practice over clean ground of a rock mark, When I say clear ground I mean a rock mark that looks like you are casting over sand. When you have mastered casting and the speed of retrieve fish broken ground. This will cut down on loses, be sure to have a few spares. Take care of waves! First day light and dusk for Bass rough and broken ground will produce mackerel in the day time. you could also use a spinning rod for float fishing for mackerel. good way to get started.
