Improving A Dogs Strike?

I am working hard to spend a lot of time with the dog (11 months) and show her what I can, she is missing a hell of a lot, the last one tonight, she just didn't seem to be striking, it ran clean under her.

 

She has had one on the lamp, after a lot of missed attempts, a couple of mixy rabbits a small hamster sized rabbit and randomly a mole, so it isn't she is just chasing and not wanting to catch.

practice makes perfect. shes only young just keep doing what you are doing and she will learn to read the quarry better and her strike should improve.

Give her easier rabbits out in the middle of the feild bring her on slowly not to much shes still young

Cheers all, as I posted this I felt a bit daft, she is only a pup.

 

It'll come good, it isn't the first time but I guess I watched this and felt frustrated I watched it from the start. The rabbits have kept the firt 10yrs of grass down, she spotted it in the long grass ( I couldn't see it), I called the terriers and to stop them ruining it, she stalked it, got between it and the hedge then it ran under her.

 

She has far too many misses, I need to give her some catches.

Wrong time of year mate..but a run or 2 on the lamp won't do no harm..I was lucky..back end of last season Jim took my pup out and we had a fair few...the odd run here and there this time of year to get a OUP started wount do no harm mate...

I wasn't intending on taking her lamping this time of year, but there was a couple of missed ones like I described, so one night I couldn't sleep at 2am so I grabbed the lamp and took her out, she did the same with a few (middle of field) before finally latching onto one. She is VERY soft mouthed and dropped a couple as well.

I wish my little bitch was sifted mouth..lol.you got the land mate..use it..I had simler feelings about mine before she seem a lamp.

best kind off night nothing wrong with the odd night out with the pup this time of year the bunnys are daft and are easier plus the grass is sometimes longer in certain fields in the summer

I was worried my bitch wouldent cut it..first night on lamp in real hard weather.bloke I went with who's been in the games years said he's never had weather like it..I nearly jacked with his walking and the weather.11 or 13 she had that night.weather or work didn't bother her.I was made up..

Tennis ball on field I always use this help them get fit aswell short sharp bursts similar to running a rabbit but without the turns Atb

Try a ball and then a kong, them things have a mind of their own when you chuck them and should sharpen the dog up.

I like to bounce the tennis ball towards my bitch, get her catching. Then bounce it left or right of them, get them stretching out for the strike.
