Tiercel 6,986
If it was not for my job, where without a car I cannot work, I would honestly give up driving. The standard of driving today is abysmal. We all make mistakes and if it is something trivial we usually hold our hands up and say sorry and everything is alright. Some people are genuinely good drivers with consideration for other people, but most I am sorry to say are really atrocious, no consideration for others. Do not get me started on women in BMW's with private plates. They do not know what indicators are, I followed one last week and has it happened she was going to the same place I was, so I made a point of parking next to here. As she got out of the car I told her her indicators were not working, so the stupid bitch was that thick she tried them, and told me "yes they are" so unusual for me, I asked her calmly, why she had not used them for the last three roundabouts she had gone through? To which she replied "she had," at that point I just gave up. Then yesterday I was waiting to get out of a side street with a box junction in front of the exit of the street three times people stopped on the box blocking the exit of the road. I had steam coming out of my ears, I really think I should give up driving before I do something stupid. Rant over but not the full story of fecking idiots that have been given a licence to cause mayhem on the roads. TC
jok 3,266
Hardly worth responding to. HOWEVER Being a bike rider I'd have to agree and say that You ain't wrong. Why oh why do people who have private plates reckon to have the sole use of the road?? (Sorry, I also drive and own a lorry and a few cars) . Actually it's not only the private plate owners. Drivers in general seem to have taken the view that having achieved there test are able to do anything they want on the roads. May I be bold in saying that it would apear that a vast majority are not form this fair land. Going back to bikes. It's fair to say that myself and a lot more have had their fair share of incidents with the 'I own the road crowd'. My rant over.Jok.
gnasher16 30,121
Most of the near misses or potential road rages ive had have been with either bike riders or lorry drivers..........are we going to fall out Jok Both are at extreme ends of the size scale....both at extreme ends of the speed scale.......and both seem to think that because they are " different " us everyday car drivers should give them some sort of special road dispensation............im not the greatest driver in the world granted....and i dont know what the statistics are......but i be surprised if averaged out both bikes/lorries dont account for most accidents on the roads.
jacknife 2,005
I'm sure standard have dropped in recent years Not indicating on roundabouts seems to be the norm now And those stupid looking twats who think they need to get dressed up in Sky Sports outfits to peddle to work
Truther 1,579
Muslim women drivers are about the worst round here, seen loads of accidents involving them, close second would be old blokes with a flat cap on the 3 closest shaves iv'e ever had were with 2 motorbikes, and a lorry..............both bikes came to fast as i was trying to turn out of a junction, round bends/hedges, and the lorry cut from the inside of a roundabout right across me, chased the c**t to the M1 probably just as well
walshie 2,804
I drive cars and ride bikes. Everyone seems to be oblivious to anyone else on the road and mirrors are just optional accessories. What really winds me up on the road is cantankerous Welshmen who follow me purely to ask if my indicators work.
BGD 6,436
I haven't had a car for the past 4 years, I hate driving and as soon as I didn't need to for work I packed it in. Get my weekly shop delivered and for anything that isn't within walking distance there's always cabs. Trips into town aren't a constant stress around parking anymore and long trips away don't mean spending hours baking in traffic just sit back on the train, it's great Edited June 17, 2015 by BGD

Truther 1,579
Erh indicating on a roundabout isnt a legal requirement. .. I think your'e allowed to miss one exit off a roundabout without indicating, ie if your'e missing the first exit and taking the next, after that you should indicate, Not sure how true that is? Tiercel 6,986
I passed my test, at the second attempt I may add, about 40 years ago. While having lessons I was parked at the kirb and I indicated that I was about to pull out. The instructor asked me why I had just indicated as there were no cars coming, therefore no need to indicate. My answer was that the woman who was walking up the road towards us pushing a pram was looking for a place to cross the road, and indicators are not always for other cars. I am really anal about indicating my intentions when driving, it lets every one know what my intentions are, instead of them having to guess and that includes pedestrians. My pet hate is people who indicate right to go around the roundabout then still indicating right take the next left, that is just plain sloth. TC
