desertbred 5,490
Most game keepers dont like birds some like them even less than running dogs , they imagine they decimate the game bird population , this is where the lacs and antis are streets ahead with factual manipulation and misinformation , a working bird will take 2/4birds or fur on an excursion and a coursing day out between 0./5 hares for a dog, on a hare shooting drive 500/800 is a regular annual tally. For birds , pheasants / grouse /pigeons etc ,whats the average 20/30 per gun per day, The letter of the law has more gaps than my teeth thats why the prosecutions under the Hunting with dogs act is not enforceable. The Police would sooner lads plead guilty to the Trespass in search of as it needs less work to prove intent especially with the carrot of less fine etc. The Hunting Act needs to be repealed to protect animals and people from abuses brought about by the lacs and antis and a law that the CPS and even the police agree is a waste of time and money trying to enforce and has done nothing to promote welfare of animals in fact it has led to the complete opposite due to ignorance of hunting and conservation of the country side shown by tree hugging lame brains Edited June 17, 2015 by desertbred 4 Quote Link to post

cocker 2,654
the simple reason you can't kill a fox with a dog but can kill a fox with "any" bird, is purely down to government politics and nothing else whatsoever it is just down to politics and tony blairs attack on people who hunt with dogs and the conservative party, i have two very good very close friends who hunt with eagles mostly roe deer, both ex coursing lads, and i brought this topic up last night they both agreed that it was just down purely to politics 2 Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
Think the BFC had nu labour sussed well in advance IMHO like them or not they very well organised and established club Like fella said in previous post for some reason joe average and many anti types simy dont see falconry in the same way they saw fox hunting hunting with dogs, shooting and even fishing Farmers the same I've knocked on countless doors asking for permisson too hunt dogs answer 9/10 no go back month later knock same ten farms with a falcon on glove answer yes at 9/10 other said no because three lads already had the hawking rights on there however if they don't come back this year you can come on here lol Conversely if a man treated a dog like he did a hawk then he would be called cruel and possibly banned from keeping dogs funny old world is it not 1 Quote Link to post
fireman 10,917
You can flush hares or foxes to a bird or gun but you cant course them with dogs and kill them . Unless the said mammal is injured then it can be despatched by the quickest and most humane method available. I think the MP,s where either pissed or buggering each other when they drafted the Hunting with dogs Act So how do you flush if the said dog isn't allowed to chase or course it? ,it's just a descriptive word is chase or course and actual continued hunting is when a offence is made or if no gun or bop is there,, Quote Link to post
