as long as you have permission from the land owner then there is no specific law but it is best to air on the side of caution as the general public have been brain washed into thinking anybody with a gun is a mass murderer

I think the law states that you should not discharge a firearm within 50 feet of a public right of way if it will cause delay or distress or diarrhoea to users of that right of way, or summat like that.

So err on the side of caution, as stated before.

Many shooters inform the police in advance that they will be shooting on a specific permission, and get a log number in return. If you're concerned, you can always do that, then politely tell any gobshîte who objects to you carrying a rifle to call the police and query the log number.

i have a few permisions with footpaths on.. i just let the walkers pass if i have a gun, some will stop and talk some look at you like your crap but i dont mind..

i never phone the police to tell them im plinking nor would i unless it becomes law, start that now and it will only become expected and i can not guarante a time i will be at one place as i move on if the rabbits are not about.

I'm the same mate I never ring the coppers its not law and I just go about my business aint breaking no laws if they if they turn up coppers get told the same. If I got mithered I might be inclined but don't see the point in drawing attention tbh.

Aye common sense is ur best policy if you see a walker I would stop and put the gun away after they have moved on continue they won't moan about what they don't see
