Coypu Hunter 486
I think the law states that you should not discharge a firearm within 50 feet of a public right of way if it will cause delay or distress or diarrhoea to users of that right of way, or summat like that. So err on the side of caution, as stated before. Many shooters inform the police in advance that they will be shooting on a specific permission, and get a log number in return. If you're concerned, you can always do that, then politely tell any gobshîte who objects to you carrying a rifle to call the police and query the log number. Quote Link to post
David.evans 5,323
I allways use log numbers , and I suppose that the police would know about the footpath ( joke ) With that said am I in the clear ? 1 Quote Link to post
random 659
Isn't it an offence for anyone to obstruct you,as the path is to allow access across the land, nothing more? 1 Quote Link to post
Coypu Hunter 486
So long as you don't cause delay or distress to footpath users, you are within the law as far as I understand it. Quote Link to post
VWman 232
Is there a way you could avoid visual contact with the foot path and be shooting away from it. Bloody ramblers are a pain in the butt. Avoid them at all cost as they are just trouble in the making. Quote Link to post

The one 8,511
Aye common sense is ur best policy if you see a walker I would stop and put the gun away after they have moved on continue they won't moan about what they don't see Quote Link to post
