ad22 1
Hi everyone, I thought i would introduce myself. I'm a fairly recent lurcher man, although i have been shooting since i was 11. I have had my first lurcher for a year, she is a bull/greyhound X collie/greyhound/whippet, I have been lamping with her for a couple of months now, only going out for an hour at a time and just picking off 1 or 2 rabbits a night, taking it nice and slowly to start with, she took her 1st sitter last night which i was very pleased with. I am passionate about lurchers and the countryside and spend most of my time with my dogs or trying to learn as much as i can. I dont know any other lurcher guys, I was brought up in the city but have always been a countryman at heart. So i have been teaching myself and learning from my mistakes. I was very pleased to find this website, I hope I can become a part of the community, share my experiances, learn from others and maybe make some friends. ad22 1
Hi limerick999, i am pretty new myself but i think when it comes to feeding a good balance of raw meat, bones, pure vegatbale and ocasionally the better quality dry and wet dog foods should do the trick diet wise. What breeding is your dog? How old is the dog? how long have you had the dog? Maybe start the dog with obedience training and lamping rabbits before moving onto hare, they are a very different stamp of quarry, i think a young dog learning the ropes with rabbiting for a year or so would be in a better position as a hare dog once it has reached maturity and has gained some experiance of the fast sprinting rabbit and how it jinks and turns.
