-SionHughes- 8
I've just had my fac after only 9 months of waiting, and have my heart set on a full stock gun. I'm not sure what to get a cz 550 stutzen or a steyr mannlicher full stock, the caliber will be 243 and the gun will be used for stalking deer in woodland. Quote Link to post
Skull Hooker 185
Have you tried either of them? I'd have to get the feel of them before I made a decision. 1 Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
Great looking rifles the stutzen but just remember that wet wood can warp and fitting a moderator to one could be a right b*****d. There was a thread in here years back of some lad who had a reflex style one fitted, the gunsmith that agreed to do it should have been cheek branded! Quote Link to post
AThomas 32
I've a Stuzen in 270. I took the front band that goes over the barell off and bedded the action,so the barell is effectively free floating. It's lighter than my t3 to carry, accurate and prity easy to point on the shoukder quickly. I originally got it for driven boar with the open sights. I wouldn't even consider a moderator, that's the whole reason for the Stuzen in the first place,as long as you dont mind the bang. You're welcome to have a go if you can get to the tunnel in Bangor Edited June 11, 2015 by AThomas Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
Good luck to you and each to their own but I have to question it's suitability for use in Woodland. Obviously, lost of people use a wide assortment of rifles in woodland, but if I was starting from scratch looking for a woodland rifle for deer, that would not be on the list. Shortish barrel, synthetic stock and light would be my thoughts, pretty much everything "cz 550 stutzen or a steyr mannlicher full stock" aren't. ATB! Edited June 13, 2015 by Deker Quote Link to post
-SionHughes- 8
Thanks for all the comments, i have handled a cz 223 stutzen at the cla game fair last year and found it light compared to my howa 223 varmint. as for the mannlicher i have never seen on or handled one, i just had a friend recommend it to me as he used to shoot one for the forestry commission a long time ago, and I found one on sale at the sportsman gun center. I do not intend to fit a silencer. Thanks for the offer AThomas, it would be nice to handle the gun, yes i can get to the tunnel, when is best for you? I'm working until Thursday and then i'm off for a week. Quote Link to post
