Showing A Lurcher

Recommended Posts

I went to a couple of lurcher and terrier shows recently, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I may even have found a new interest, but a couple of questions occurred to me......

If I wanted to enter a lurcher in a show, does he/she have to be intact, or are neutered dogs allowed ?

Secondly, do you have to show any breeding history or information ?

Apologies for asking dumbass beginners questions, but we were all beginners once......

Cheers

The only thing you need to know is the judge lol

I showed my young un this year at kelmarsh (bit of fun and socialisation) and while all the other folk were contorting their dogs into daft statuesque positions Fred just dug holes, ate grass and gene

Ive always found if I show any of my dogs be it a terrier or lurcher I get nowt......However if my 23 yr old blond mrs is holding the lead they miraculously end up with a rosette.....Strange ay.

doesnt matter if the dog is neutered or not. Breeding information is not essential, but type maybe ; eg bullx in a bull x class etc. If you dont know the breeding, make it up if you like. most breeders do anyway :tongue2:

At the end of the day, its just a beauty contest, where you pay a £ for somebodies opinion

Shows, a great bit of summer fun that gives hunting folk the chance to both meet old friends and new. What happens in the ring is almost immeterial, as, just like the judge, we all have an opinion of the best dog.

Highly trained you see!
